CALIFORNIA, Md. — Comic book fans will have two opportunities to meet acclaimed writers during upcoming launch signings at Third Eye Comics locations in Southern Maryland.

Joe Casey, co-creator of the animated series “Ben 10,” will visit the company’s Waldorf and Lexington Park stores Sunday, Aug. 30, as part of a two-day Maryland signing tour celebrating “Terminal” No. 1.

The following weekend, New York Times bestselling writer Kyle Higgins will appear at Third Eye Comics in Waldorf for the launch of DC Comics’ new “Teen Titans” series.

Casey will sign copies of “Terminal” No. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Third Eye Comics, 12522 Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf. He will then appear from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Lexington Park store, located at 45315 Alton Lane in California.

The appearances follow a signing scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, at Third Eye Comics in Glen Burnie.

“Terminal,” published through Image Comics and Skybound, introduces readers to a secret conflict between two violent groups with superhuman abilities whose actions blur the distinction between heroes and villains.

At the center of the story is Marilyn Howe, whose search for her missing sister, Alessandra, draws her into the conflict. Marilyn soon learns that saving the world may require unlocking her genetic code and surrendering everything she believed about herself.

The mature-rated series comes from Robert Kirkman, Casey and artists Andy Kubert, David Finch and Arthur Adams. The first issue was released July 22.

Casey is an established comic book writer whose credits include “Uncanny X-Men,” “Wildcats 3.0” and “Adventures of Superman.” He is also a founding member of Man of Action Studios, the creative collective behind the animated franchises “Ben 10” and “Generator Rex.” His career has included work for Marvel, DC, Image Comics, IDW Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment.

The first 10 people in line at each Third Eye Comics signing will receive a free event-exclusive gift. Signed preorders are also available through the retailer.

Additional information is available on the Third Eye Comics event page.

Higgins will appear from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Third Eye Comics in Waldorf. The signing will take place during the store’s Waldorf Faithful Day celebration.

The signing line will be capped at noon, according to the store. The first 10 people in line will receive a limited event gift, and signed preorders and VIP packages are available.

Higgins is the writer of DC Comics’ new “Teen Titans” series, which reunites him with artist Daniele Di Nicuolo. The pair previously worked together on the acclaimed “Power Rangers: Shattered Grid” storyline.

The new series follows Red Hood as he uncovers a network of missing teenagers with superhuman abilities. He reluctantly joins forces with a new generation of young heroes — including Fairplay, Cheshire Cat, Proxy and Wildcard — to search for a missing friend and investigate Ascend, a growing youth movement that trains children to survive in a world shaped by superhuman conflict.

“Teen Titans” No. 1 is scheduled for release Wednesday, Sept. 2, as part of DC Comics’ Next Level publishing initiative. DC Comics announced the series in June.

Higgins is a New York Times bestselling writer known for his work on “Radiant Black,” “Nightwing,” “Batman: Gates of Gotham,” “Deathstroke” and the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” franchise. He is also a filmmaker and the co-founder of Black Market Narrative, the creative collective behind the Massive-Verse of connected superhero titles.

More information about Higgins’ Waldorf appearance is available through Third Eye Comics.
