Hansen wasn’t a fan of ‘Primetime,’ in which Pattinson portrays a dramatized version of him, but he is happy to talk with the acclaimed actor.
On a recent episode of his podcast, former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen offered an open invitation for Robert Pattinson to “have a seat” and chat about his career and Primetime, in which the Batman actor portrays the host of the controversial Dateline NBC series.
“You know, it dawned on me the other day that there’s a guy who has been asked a lot of questions about me and I’ve been asked a lot of questions regarding him. And that guy is Robert Pattinson,” said Hansen on an episode of Have a Seat With Chris Hansen. “You know, he’s the actor who portrays me, or a character with my name, image, and likeness, in the movie Primetime. And I thought, wouldn’t it be great if Robert Pattinson would have a seat with me and talk about all of this?”
He used it as an opportunity to extend an “open invitation” to Pattinson, despite previously indicating that he’s not a fanof Primetime.
“So, this is an open invitation for Robert Pattinson to come on my show and talk about the movie, talk about his career,” Hansen continued. “I know he’s a busy guy. I know I’m a busy guy. But Robert, come have a seat anytime. I could even come to London. I know he’s shooting a film there—Batman, I believe. But, I just think it would be engaging and I think people would find it interesting.”
Before the release of Primetime, the psychological thriller dramatization of the To Catch a Predator production directed by Lance Oppenheim and distributed by A24, Hansen revealed that he would be buying ads to air before screenings of the movie. Hansen also suggested that he was considering pursuing some sort of legal action, and has since seen it and argued it was “detached from reality.”
