The kids from the Chaires-Capitola Little League have their backs against the wall in the Southeast Regional of the Little League World Series.
The team representing Florida had one bad inning on Aug. 8 against the kids from Phenix City, Alabama, which resulted in an 8-5 loss. It was the Tallahassee group’s first loss in the tournament, but they still have a chance to reach Williamsport.
They must win their next two games, beginning with the Aug. 9 affair with Tennessee, which defeated South Carolina on Sunday, 6-1. Today’s winner will face Alabama on Tuesday for the Southeast championship and a trip to the grandest stage in youth sports.

Once all regional tournaments are completed, 20 teams will gather in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the 2026 Little League World Series. Games begin Wednesday, Aug. 19, culminating with the 2026 LLWS championship Sunday, Aug. 30.
