A former “Station 19” star is reentering familiar territory later this month. Jay Hayden, who played firefighter Travis Montgomery on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off, will recur on CBS’ “Fire Country” this season, TV Insider reports.

Hayden will play Mason, a former professional baseball player who hails from one of Edgewater’s most powerful families. Described by CBS as “confident and charismatic,” Mason returns to his hometown “to convert his family’s old paper mill into a new business and reconnect with his old buddies, but he has a secret agenda that could either help or hurt the town.”

Among those “old buddies” are Bode (Max Thieriot) and Jake (Jordan Calloway), who apparently played baseball with Mason back in the day. Hayden’s first episode of “Fire Country” airs Friday, October 30 at 9/8c on CBS.

Following Hayden’s seven-season run on “Station 19,” he recurred in Season 4 of CBS’ “FBI: International,” playing honorary team member Agent Tyler Booth. Prior to “Station 19,” his resume included memorable roles on “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “SEAL Team,” “One Day at a Time,” “Criminal Minds,” and more shows.

    In other casting news…

    • “The Night Agent” star Gabriel Basso is joining the upcoming Apple TV thriller “Guilty Creatures” as a series regular, Deadline reports. Based on Mikita Brottman’s true-crime novel of the same name, the series reportedly “delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers, unraveling their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years.” The series also stars Julia Garner, Lewis Pullman, and Maddie Hasson, with Mary-Louise Parker recurring. Stuart Zicherman serves as showrunner, executive-producing alongside Garner, Brottman, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Alissa Bachner, Sarah DeLappe, Craig Gillespie, and Annie Marter. A premiere date is not yet known.
    • Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom,” “American Rust”) will star in “Bannerman,” an AMC drama series based on John R. Maxim’s spy novels, Deadline reports. Daniels will play disgraced NYPD detective Raymond Lesko, who emerges from retirement upon discovering that his daughter is dating a man “who may be even more dangerous than he is.” The title character of Paul Bannerman, a “lethal covert operative” who convinces a group of deadly assassins to retire in suburban Connecticut, has not yet been cast. The first season of “Bannerman” will be available to stream on Netflix in the United States and Canada 90 days after the finale airs on AMC, as part of a new deal between the two companies.
    • Justin Lupe (“Succession,” “Nobody Wants This”) is attached to lead “Settling,” a comedy series currently in development at Prime Video, Deadline reports. Lupe would star as Jessy, a lifelong commitment-phobe experiencing early on-set menopause. It’s around this time that she meets Max, who’s undergoing “late-onset isolation panic.” The show’s logline asks: “Can they conquer their fears and commit to a forever?” The rom-com is created by Colin Lupe and pilot writer Briana Pozner, both of whom executive-produce alongside Justine Lupe, Adam Londy, director Will Gluck, Madison Jones, Colin Lupe, and Leigh Kittay.
