Although anything can happen in the future, it’s currently looking like a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Monster Hunter World is unlikely to happen.
Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto addressed the possibility in a recent interview. He said that to make a Nintendo Switch 2 port happen, Capcom would “have to completely remake the game from the ground up.”
This comes down to the game’s engine. Capcom is now using the RE Engine for the Monster Hunter titles, but that wasn’t the case previously.
”The main challenge is, the engine is completely different for Monster Hunter World. From Monster Hunter Rise onwards, we’ve been using our own RE Engine. That engine change completely changes the conversation, regardless of performance or machine power. We’d have to completely remake the game from the ground up.”
Capcom’s current focus is bringing Monster Hunter Wilds to Nintendo Switch 2, which launches on December 4. The company just shared tech specs for this version, which you can find here.
