Watch:Beartooth Frontman Caleb Shomo’s Wife Reacts After He Comes Out as Gay

Caleb Shomo and Fleur Shomo are closing a chapter

Nearly two months after the Beartooth frontman came out as gay, the former couple jointly filed for divorce in the Los Angeles Superior Court July 13 after 14 years of marriage, according to court records obtained by multipleoutlets.

Fleur, who married Caleb in 2012, shared in May that she and the “Free” singer had split following his announcement that he’s a “proudly gay man.”

“Our nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love,” she wrote in a May 23 Instagram post. “Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do. And no one can ever truly know what depths of love exist between two people unless they are those people.”

Fleur admitted that she was “already” missing her marriage and husband “more than anything,” adding, “Our story was a good one. And now it’s done.”

Earlier that day, Caleb came out as gay while addressing speculation about his personal life.

“I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,” he shared in a statement posted to Instagram May 23. “I am a proudly gay man.”

“This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now,” Caleb continued. “It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact.”

While 33-year-old—who has been the frontman of the alternative metalcore band Beartooth since 2012—emphasized that he explored his past struggles in the group’s four “very self deprecating” albums, he “wouldn’t allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long.”

After spending a “decade burying feelings with alcohol,” Caleb said he wasn’t able to start “reconciling with my sexuality” until he decided to get sober

And the “In Between” singer wants others to ultimately be able to accept themselves, too

“I encourage anyone who’s struggling with who they are to give yourself grace,” he wrote. “Do the hard work instead of burying it down as deep as you physically can thinking it will change like I did. Holding these things in only hurt you and those around you.”

As for Fleur, while her breakup with Caleb was not easy by any means, she’ll always continue to support him

“The past few months have been a very disorientating [sic] and hurtful time to navigate,” Fleur wrote on Instagram while reacting to Caleb sharing his sexuality. “For both of us. But I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world.”
