Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 has kicked off on a massive note, with JioStar claiming that the Salman Khan-hosted show has delivered the biggest opening day ever for a reality show on JioHotstar. The milestone season premiered on September 6 on JioHotstar and COLORS, bringing back one of Indian television’s longest-running reality franchises.
According to JioStar, the opening has set a new benchmark for reality entertainment on the streaming platform. The 20th season arrived with a new ‘Tathas-Two’ theme, Extra Jeevan Daan and a redesigned Bigg Boss house, adding to the buzz around the show’s landmark year.
Salman Khan, who has hosted the show for 16 seasons, called the response overwhelming and described the latest achievement as a special milestone.
He said, “Bigg Boss has been a very special journey for me. Having hosted the show for 16 seasons and now seeing it reach its 20th season with this kind of love is truly overwhelming.”
Reacting to the reported record, Salman added, “In fact to see Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 become the biggest reality show launch ever is overwhelming and a proud milestone for all of us.”
The actor further credited the audience for keeping the franchise relevant over the years.
“Every season brings something new, but the audience is what makes this journey so special. This year, we have a new set of contestants, a new game and a whole lot of surprises, and I’m excited to see how their journeys unfold,” he said.
Salman concluded, “The response to the opening has been incredible, and I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey with us.”
Alok Jain, Head, Hindi & English Entertainment Business, JioStar (Streaming, TV & Studios), also reacted to the opening numbers.
He said, “Bigg Boss continues to set new benchmarks for reality entertainment. Delivering the biggest launch ever for Bigg Boss Hindi is a phenomenal milestone and a testament to the franchise’s enduring connection with the audiences over two decades.”
He added, “The extraordinary fandom and attention the show commands is a strong reflection of its scale and relevance, season after season.”
The grand premiere saw Salman introduce the new theme while contestants entered the house amid dance and musical performances. The opening episode also offered the first glimpse at emerging equations, rivalries and conflicts among this season’s participants.
With contestants from different industries already generating conversations inside and outside the house, the makers are positioning Season 20 as a bigger milestone edition of the franchise.
Bigg Boss 20 streams on JioHotstar at 9 PM and airs on COLORS at 10.30 PM every night.
