The Malayalam romantic comedy Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is continuing its good run at the box office, with the film reportedly crossing the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. The film continues to attract viewers even weeks after its theatrical release, led by Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju.
The film, directed by Girish A. D., who had earlier delivered Premalu, has now made it to the list of some of the remarkable commercial successes of Malayalam cinema in recent times.
OTT release reportedly postponed
The film’s digital premiere is awaited by the audience and it is reportedly going to stream on JioHotstar with Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. But there is no official OTT release date so far.
Reports speculate that the digital premiere could be delayed as the film continues to draw moviegoers to theaters. As per a report in 123Telugu, the makers might opt for a delay to safeguard the film’s ongoing theatrical run, according to social media buzz.
There has been no confirmation from the filmmakers or JioHotstar about the reports. Currently, the film is still running in theaters and an official announcement regarding its streaming date is still awaited.
Nivin Pauly also commented on the film’s claimed Rs 300 crore worldwide success. The actor took to social media to thank the audiences for the overwhelming response to the movie.
The actor also remembered music composer Vishnu Vijay and said that his presence would have made the celebratory moment even more special and thanked the viewers for their continued love.
A good performer among the recent Malayalam releases
With the collection reported, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has become one of the noted Malayalam films to have reached the major box-office numbers.
The reported run of the movie has seen it surpass a number of recent releases which had good theatrical collections like L2: Empuraan and Thudarum. It has also entered the discourse on films like Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, signifying the growing commercial ambit of Malayalam cinema.
The success comes at a time when Malayalam films are regularly finding audiences outside Kerala and several productions have also achieved good theatrical numbers worldwide.
Mamitha Baiju continues winning streak
The film’s success adds another important title to the ever-growing filmography of Mamitha Baiju.
The actress has been a part of several high-profile projects in the last few years and is also expanding her presence across South Indian cinema. The film has become more attractive due to her performance in the Bethlehem Kudumba Unit with Nivin Pauly.
The movie features an ensemble cast including Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, Syam Pushkaran, Sangeeth Prathap, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt and Roshan Shanavas in pivotal roles.
With its theatrical run ongoing and its reported global gross crossing the Rs 300 crore mark, all eyes are now on when Bethlehem Kudumba Unit will finally make its OTT debut.
