The ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. lineup is expanding once again with the arrival of the GM Trainer, bringing one of Mobile Suit Gundam MSV’s lesser-known mobile suits to Bandai Spirits’ anime-accurate action figure series.
Mobile Suit Gundam MSV, short for Mobile Suit Variation, is a long-running side story and mechanical design project that expands the original Mobile Suit Gundam universe with additional mobile suits, equipment and lore beyond the TV anime, making it a favorite among longtime Gundam fans and model kit collectors.
The TGM-79 GM Trainer was developed by the Earth Federation Forces as a dedicated pilot training mobile suit after the introduction of the mass-produced RGM-79 GM, sacrificing some armor and weaponry in favor of features designed to help train new pilots.
Unlike the standard GM, the GM Trainer features a distinctive transparent chest window for observing internal and external conditions, a two-seat cockpit that accommodates both an instructor and trainee, and an unmistakable orange and white color scheme that sets it apart from frontline combat units.
The new ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. release builds upon the previously released GM figure while introducing a wide range of newly sculpted parts to accurately recreate the Trainer’s unique head, shoulders, chest, waist and knee armor.
Clear parts have been used to faithfully reproduce the dual-seat cockpit canopy, while printed number “7” markings and the signature orange and white finish complete the mobile suit’s training unit appearance.
A highly articulated internal frame allows for expressive action poses through an articulated chest joint, movable leg armor and an extensive range of motion throughout the figure.
The included accessories allow collectors to recreate a variety of scenes with a Beam Spray Gun, shield, Hyper Bazooka, Beam Saber, along with beam effect parts and jet propulsion effects that add extra impact to display poses.
The ROBOT SPIRITS TGM-79 GM Trainer ver. A.N.I.M.E., priced at ¥7,700 (approx. $52 USD / £39 GBP), is now available to pre-order through Premium Bandai in both Japan and the US.
The figure is scheduled for release in December 2026 in Japan, followed by a United States release in January 2027.
