This summer, Marvel fans were very focused on the present, quickly turning Spider-Man: Brand New Day into a record-breaking sensation and ordering Avengers: Doomsday tickets months in advance. Marvel Studios, however, has characteristically kept one eye on the future, teasing what comes next. During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo, Marvel confirmed its 2028 slate, announcing three new movies. But before we get a chance to see X-Men, Ghost Rider, or Black Panther 3, the Multiverse Saga will reach its epic conclusion in Avengers: Secret Wars next year. Since there’s still a long way to go before Doomsday, many Secret Wars details are being kept under wraps, but now we know of a high-profile addition to the cast.

According to Deadline, Noah Jupe, best known for his role in the Quiet Place franchise, has been cast in Secret Wars in a mystery role. The only additional detail the outlet has is that “the role is expected to play a key part in the story.”
Who Could Noah Jupe Be Playing in the MCU?
As if Marvel fans didn’t already have more than enough to speculate about regarding Doomsday and Secret Wars, the identity of Jupe’s mystery character is another item for the pile. It probably won’t take long for the first wave of rumors and theories to start circulating, especially since it’s unlikely there will be anything official from Marvel for the foreseeable future. The studio is known for its high levels of secrecy, and right now, it’s trying to keep as much about Doomsday under wraps. Revealing details about Secret Wars at this juncture could constitute as a Doomsday spoiler, teasing where the story is going to go. The filmmakers may not address Jupe’s character until at least after Doomsday has opened.
One of the more plausible possibilities is that Jupe is playing one of the X-Men. At 21 years old, he’s in the age range that Marvel is targeting for X-Men; Kit Connor is 22, Sadie Sink is 24, Inde Navarrette is 25, and Maya Boyd is 23. Jupe could easily slide into that ensemble, becoming part of the new mutant group. There are reports that Sink will reprise Jean Grey in Secret Wars, indicating that the next generation of X-Men will have a role to play there. Perhaps after the Fox veterans have their last hurrah in Doomsday, Secret Wars can bring the younger cast into the fold, setting up their solo movie.
Marvel unveiled the X-Men cast at D23, confirming a mix of rising talent and established stars. However, there could still be more roles that need to be cast. X-Men is renowned for having eclectic teams of mutants, and there are many fan-favorite characters yet to be revealed for the MCU’s reboot. Jupe could be Iceman, Angel, Beast, or someone else. Since there’s so little information to go off of, it’s entirely possible Jupe’s character is unrelated to the X-Men. All we know is that it’s “a key part,” but that could mean anything.
Perhaps Jupe is playing an aged-up Franklin Richards, whose birth was an integral component of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. That film’s post-credits scene revealed Doctor Doom has taken a great interest in young Franklin, who could become one of the MCU’s most powerful characters. Altering realities and creating pocket dimensions are among Franklin’s abilities, tricks that could come in handy in a multiversal epic like Secret Wars. Another possibility is Jupe has been cast as Beyonder, who in the comics collects various heroes and villains so they can fight on Battleworld. It’ll be interesting to see what direction Marvel goes in, and if Doomsday will have any clues.
