Avengers: Doomsday Hot Toys Reveals Best Look Yet At The MCU Sentinel Designs

“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to reintroduce the Fox-era X-Men to audiences as part of a grandiose superhero team-up event. It seems this time around, the mutants will be facing off against one of their most recognizable and formidable enemies in the Sentinels — giant mutant-hunting robots that first appeared back in November 1965’s “The X-Men” #14. Now, Hot Toys has announced its new 23.6-inch tall Sentinel Jumbo Sofvi Figure (via Instagram), which gives us a clear look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe Sentinel design.

Marvel dropped a set of “Doomsday” teasers near the start of 2026, and the “Doomsday” X-Men trailer proved to be the best of the bunch, ensuring anticipation reached stratospheric levels ahead of the movie’s December 18, 2026 release. That same “Doomsday” teaser confirmed the debut of the MCU’s Sentinels by including a brief shot showing one of their feet. These colossal enemies have appeared throughout Marvel’s comic books and numerous times in both small screen and silver screen “X-Men” adaptations. Now, they’re set to pop up in “Doomsday,” and we just gotten our best look yet at their design.

Thus far, we’ve seen the MCU Sentinels showcased in a scene from more recent “Doomsday” trailers, wherein Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom uses his immense power to raise the robots from a dusty wasteland, presumably to unleash them upon the Avengers. But even those shots kept the Sentinels in shadow. Now, however, the new Sentinel Jumbo Sofvi Figure has been revealed, and according to Hot Toys, it bears an “authentic and detailed likeness of Sentinel in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.'” For fans eagerly awaiting the movie, that means we’re now able to take a good look at the MCU’s take on these towering mutant destroyers.

The MCU Sentinels combine the best parts of prior designs

Barring a brief appearance in a simulation as part of the 2000s “X-Men” films, Sentinels first appeared on the big screen in 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” But these robots were just 10 feet tall. We’ve since seen Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine use the foot of a Sentinel to escape Cassandra Nova’s (Emma Corrin) lair in the box office-obliterating “Deadpool & Wolverine,” but “Avengers: Doomsday” looks to finally be doing justice to these longstanding X-Men enemies.

The Hot Toys figures reveal a design that pays homage to the robots unveiled by military scientist Bolivar Trask back in “The X-Men” #14. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were responsible for these original Sentinels, and the MCU versions maintain several elements of the original design, including the headband and the purple armor chest plates depicted on the cover of “The X-Men” #14. But the Hot Toys figures also reveal a more updated design that takes cues from later Sentinel models by using an all-over purple color scheme and more armor plating.

For those interested, the Sentinel figures come with 18 points of articulation, six interchangeable hands, LED light-up eyes, and interchangeable face plates, which allow for a more battle-damaged look. Hot Toys is even throwing in a rocky terrain base and a Doctor Doom miniature figure, which has been posed with arms open to match the scene from the “Doomsday” trailers in which he raises the Sentinels from the ground. The figures are expected to arrive in the third or fourth quarter of 2027.
