AAA gaming while consuming the least amount of power is possible, but there are lots of unanswered questions / Image credits – ASUS

The first wave of RTX Spark laptops can now be pre-ordered, but if you want a different form factor that you can keep at home at all times, ASUS caters to this crowd with its ProArt GR1X mini-PCs powered by the same SoC. While these compact computers tackle a multitude of workloads, ASUS wants you to know that these PCs also cater to gamers, claiming a performance of 100FPS at 1440p resolution, but these figures don’t answer all of our queries.

RTX Spark’s Blackwell GPU cannot achieve 100FPS at native 1440p, but upscaling and Frame Generation levels aren’t mentioned when discussing framerates

On the ProArt GR1X product, which you can click here to learn more about, ASUS has highlighted a multitude of features that its latest mini-PCs can tackle, ranging from running 120B parameter models with up to a one million Context Window, 90GB 3D scene rendering. The Taiwanese manufacturer also states that users can experience AAA gaming at 1440p, with the framerate reaching 100FPS.

NVIDIA’s fourth-generation Ray Tracing cores are also mentioned in the marketing material, not to mention that the RTX Spark will operate at an efficient 140W TDP to deliver the aforementioned numbers. NVIDIA’s SoC doesn’t have any power-hungry requirements, meaning that the ProArt GR1X didn’t have to waste too many reling the dissipation task

What we’re most curious to learn is how the RTX Spark manages to deliver 100FPS at a higher resolution through upscaling and Frame Generation. Until now, we haven’t come across any performance metrics regarding RTX Spark’s gaming capabilities, despite the fact that we’ve reported about Alan Wake 2 and PRAGMATA demos running fluidly on this chipset. Since the RTX Spark is based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, it supports Multi-Frame Generation with up to 6x interpolation.

Leveraging DLSS and Multi-Frame Generation can effortlessly help RTX Spark achieve the aforementioned framerate, and best of all, thanks to NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5, which drastically improves image quality and boosts performance, gamers likely won’t notice that they’re playing at a lower output resolution. Anyone who’s purchasing the ProArt GR1X mini-PCs and desires higher FPS won’t mind using NVIDIA’s exclusive technologies, but ASUS can at least show a little transparency.
