Grammy and Oscars Award winning music director AR Rahman is all set to honour the legendary Asha Bhosle with a special tribute titled Asha Forever on her birth anniversary today (September 8). The song is particularly significant because it features a recording Rahman made with Asha Bhosle before her death in April 2026.
Initially conceived as a celebration during the late singer’s lifetime, the project has now been completed with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The tribute will include AI-created recreations of several prominent personalities from the entertainment industry including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Karan Johar. The virtual celebration is aimed at recreating the gathering that A R Rahman had originally planned for Asha Bhoslewhile she was alive.
visaged Asha Forever to be a much grander celebration for the versatile singer Asha Bhosle, to gather some of the biggest names from the entertainment industry in her presence and celebrate her extraordinary contribution to Indian music

However, following Asha Bhosle’s death, that gathering could no longer take place as originally planned.
Rahman reportedly remained determined to complete the project and preserve the idea of celebrating Asha alongside the people who shared a special bond with her.
Rahman also thanked Amitabh Bachchan for writing for Asha Bhosle’s tribute.
A very special thanks to Amitabh Bhattacharya for crafting these beautiful words and celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Asha Bhosle ji through them. #AshaForever#ComingSoon — A.R.Rahman (@arrahman) September 7, 2026
A new generation coming together to celebrate a voice that has belonged to every generation. Thank you, @JanhviKapoor, for adding your warmth to this special tribute to Asha Bhosle ji. Thank you @BoneyKapoor for making this happen. #AshaForever#ComingSoon

This actually gave the idea of completing this special piece with the help of AI. Importantly, the project has been described as a recreation of an already planned tribute rather than an attempt to create a new event involving the stars.sent
Aa celebration for Asha Ji, with Rahman wanting to bring the whole industry together in her presence. It was meant to be a very special celebration of her life, her music and the relationships she shared with so many people. After her passing, he was still keen that the idea should still live on. That is when the possibility of using AI came into the picture.”
Asha Bhosle’s final recordings
Asha Forever also carries emotional significance because Asha Bhosle had recorded the song with A R Rahman before her death. The singer died on April 12, 2026, aged 92, leaving behind a career spanning more than eight decades.
A R Rahman had first teased the project in June on World Music Day, describing it as a tribute to a voice that had transcended generations, languages and borders.
At the time, he had also shared footage of Asha Bhosle in the recording studio and said the project had begun as a dream while she was still alive.
Rahman and Asha Bhosle had given some memorable songs, including ‘Rangeela Re’, ‘Kahin Aag Lage’ and ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’.
In an earlier interview, Rahman had once said AI could help artists experiment and work more efficiently, but argued that technology cannot replace the emotional core of music.
“It is not about humans versus technology, it’s about how the two can work together to create something meaningful.”
The song will be unveiled on September 8, marking what would have been the legendary singer’s 93rd birth anniversary.
