Anime visual novel Expelled from Paradise: The Stellar Angel comes to Nintendo Switch this Fall

Posted on August 21, 2026 by Cris-(chito) in News, Switch eShop

Toei Animation has officially announced Expelled from Paradise: The Stellar Angel for Nintendo Switch. The title has been given a release date of November 21, 2026.

Expelled from Paradise is a Sci-fi anime film from 2014, taking place within a desolate earth where most inhabitants live within a virtual reality. The movie will actually be receiving its first sequel this November, with Expelled from Paradise: The Stellar Angel also being a direct follow up to the first film.

Here’s a short description of the game provided by Toei Animation:

Expelled from Paradise: The Stellar Angel is the first game in the series: a brand-new science-fiction visual novel depicting what happened after the 2014 anime film Expelled from Paradise.

Civilization has been destroyed by the Nano Hazard, a runaway nanomachine disaster, and most of humanity has given up their physical bodies to live on as data in the virtual world of DEVA. Angela Balzac turned her back on that world and chose to live on the surface with her partner, Dingo. Theirs is a story shaped by the conversations they have shared and the choices they have made—and it is your choices that will determine where it leads.

The Story Stirs Once More, Down on the Surface

A.D. 2400. Ever since the Nano Hazard, a catastrophic event that laid waste to the surface world, 98% of humanity has abandoned both the ravaged Earth and their own flesh and blood to migrate to the virtual world of DEVA. Now, a strange new lifeform has suddenly begun sprouting on the surface: the Paraflora. As it spreads at alarming speed, colossal worms have started to appear nearby, attacking people one after another. At the heart of the outbreak lies Svarga, a desert town that was long ago abandoned due to a plague. Meanwhile, an agent of DEVA’s Security Bureau has stolen Grey Goo, a top-secret file holding data on the Nano Hazard, and fled to the surface. Their trail, too, leads to Svarga. And now, in this ghost town shrouded in mystery and conspiracy, several competing agendas are about to converge.

With the K2-System, Angela’s Heart is in Your Hands!

In the film, Angela felt the wind on the surface, met Dingo, and changed little by little. This game takes her growth even further, telling a story of Angela that no one has ever seen before.

The K2-system, the choice system at the heart of the game, allows you to follow her emotional journey through the choices you make.

The story has more than one ending. Some paths lead to endings from which there is no turning back.

    • Angela
      • A former System Security Officer from DEVA. She possesses exceptional potential in cyberwarfare.
      • Originally an information-based life form with no physical body, she descended to the surface world during a ground mission in a hastily cultivated body equivalent to that of a sixteen-year-old.
      • Though once regarded as a highly promising Security Officer, she defied senior Security Bureau officials during the Frontier Setter incident and broke away from DEVA. Since her defection, she has been hiding from DEVA’s pursuers and living on the surface with Dingo, helping him with his work as a handyman.
    • Dingo
      • Zarik Kajiwara, also known as Dingo.
      • A surface dweller with brownish-black hair and a beard.
      • He once worked as an Observer, supporting DEVA Security Officers during ground missions. His abilities as an Observer were excellent, earning him an overall S-rank evaluation, though his conduct was also deemed problematic.
      • During the Frontier Setter incident, he supported Angela and, through his deduction and quick thinking, helped her reach the truth. He has since left his work as a DEVA Observer and now looks after Angela, who has migrated to the surface.
    • Multiple endings, including bad endings.
    • Full voice acting in all major scenes.
    • TIPS feature for exploring the game’s terminology and world in greater depth.
    • Read-text skip, backlog, autosave, and more.
    • Supports both Japanese and English (switchable in-game).

We also have a trailer for the game, which can be seen below
