Anime NebrasKon brings thousands of fans to Council Bluffs

Anime, gaming and comic fans gathered at the Mid-America Center this weekend for Anime NebrasKon, a three-day convention celebrating pop culture and the community around it.
Thousands of attendees and hundreds of vendors took part in the event, which featured activities, including an arcade, board games, cosplay and celebrity Q&As.
Becky Potter, the convention’s original chair, said organizers want to give people a fun place to spend time together.
“There’s a lot of negativity today and in the world out there, and we want to offer kind of like a haven, something fun that people can look forward to,” Potter said.
Potter said the convention also brings back longtime attendees. She said about 35% of people who attended 10 years ago still come to the event.
Anime NebrasKon ran Friday through Sunday at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.
