Amitabh Bachchan had a playful complaint for Preity Zinta when the actor appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati alongside Sunny Deol. The actors were on the show to promote their upcoming historical drama Batwara 1947, but Bachchan couldn’t resist bringing up an old birthday grievance.
Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday complaint
In a new promo for KBC, Bachchan told Zinta, “I have a huge complaint with you. I wish you on your birthday on January 31 every year and you didn’t even respond to me once.”
Zinta responded with her trademark cheekiness, saying, “No, Amit ji, I always respond to youâ¦but after a week.”
Bachchan then pulled up an old social media post in which he had wished Zinta on her birthday while also joking about her habit of not replying to his messages. The post read, “Preity Zinta wherever you are, since you have refused to reply to my sms…ha ha…a very happy birthday…love and happiness.”
The exchange had the studio audience laughing and offered a glimpse of the warm equation the two actors share. Bachchan and Zinta have previously worked together in films including Mohabbatein, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and The Last Lear.
While the birthday banter was clearly in good humour, it made for one of the more entertaining moments from the actors’ KBC appearance. Preity Zinta also recently slammed a paparazzo for claiming she ignored Aamir Khan at the Batwara 1947 shoot.
Preity Zinta, Sunny Deol promote Batwara 1947
Zinta and Sunny Deol appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati to promote Batwara 1947, a historical drama set against the backdrop of the Partition of India. The film explores the human cost of one of the most defining events in the country’s history.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, Batwara 1947 also marks another collaboration between Santoshi and Deol. The filmmaker and actor have previously delivered films such as Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak: Lethal.
For Zinta, the film marks an important return to Hindi cinema. The actor is making her comeback to a full-fledged Hindi film role after several years. She was last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018, which also featured Deol.
Deol, meanwhile, has remained active on the big screen, with recent appearances in Jaat, Border 2 and most recently Ikka.
With Batwara 1947 bringing Zinta and Deol together again, their KBC appearance has offered fans a mix of film promotion, nostalgia and Bachchan’s unmistakable playful humour.
