Twitch and Amazon face a class action lawsuit over claims that the companies used creators’ content to train generative AI.
Twitch recently introduced an opt-out setting that lets streamers stop their channel content from being used to train Amazon’s generative AI models. Now, a class action lawsuit claims both companies unlawfully used content creators’ footage to develop Amazon’s AI models.

Twitch Streamer Files AI Training Lawsuit Against Amazon
In a complaint that was filed on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Plaintiff Warren Pandiscia claims that Amazon, in an effort to acquire AI training data at an unprecedented rate, they utilize twitch streams and videos instead of negotiating lawful licenses or seeking permission to train these models.
“By design, defendants never obtain—and their systems are incapable of obtaining—the consent of all parties to the communications they capture,”he said in the complaint
Additionally, he claims content creators will never be able to recover the intellectual property unlawfully copied and used to train the AI models.
Twitch Chief Product Officer Mike Minton defended the recent opt-out setting, saying that if it were opt-in, nobody would opt in.
