Gamers looking to add a fun RPG in the vein of Pokémon to their PlayStation library are in luck. VEWO Interactive’s creature collector, Nexomon: Extinction, is currently available for under $5 on the PlayStation Store after a massive discount. The game was first released on PC, PlayStation, and other consoles in 2020.
At the time of writing, the game has been discounted from its standard $19.99 price tag to just $4.99. The deal is set to run through August 27, 2026, giving PS4 and PS5 owners nearly a week to claim the offer.
What can you do in Nexomon: Extinction?
In Nexomon: Extinction, players can catch over 300 monsters known as the titular Nexomons. These Nexomon can be trapped and tamed for use in combat, similar to Pokémon.
During exploration, the game has an isometric view, similar to classic video games. It features several environments with different biomes, though the journey through them isn’t easy due to the game’s dynamic difficulty mechanic.
It also features an expansive campaign, with players taking over 25 hours to finish it. Completionists can take over 60 hours to finish every quest in the game. Throughout the adventure, the protagonist’s companion, Coco, frequently breaks the fourth wall, adding a new dimension to the genre.
Following its initial release, PlayStation Lifestyle’s Jenni Lada gave it a 7/10 in their review. The game was praised for the designs of the collectible Nexomons, though it drew criticism for its lack of depth in gameplay. VEWO Interactive also released the game’s predecessor, the original Nexomon, on the PlayStation Store in 2021.
Nexomon: Extinction is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
