The dispute surrounding Hera Pheri 3 has intensified once again. In a fresh development, Akshay Kumar’s production banner, Cape of Good Films LLP, has issued a public notice asserting its exclusive ownership over the film’s production and commercial rights
The notice, published in the July 4, 2026, edition of the trade publication Complete Cinema, declares that the company alone is authorised to produce, exploit and deal with Hera Pheri 3 in all commercial capacities. It further cautions producers, distributors, exhibitors and other members of the entertainment industry against entering into any arrangement with individuals or entities claiming rights to the project without obtaining prior consent from Cape of Good Films LLP

Cape Of Good Films’ Soul Stake In Hera Pheri 3
A public notice issued by Akshay Kumar’s production house recently surfaced online after a screenshot was shared by one of the actor’s fan clubs and later reported by Bollywood Hungama. The announcement is directed not only at the general public but also at key stakeholders across the entertainment industry, including distributors, exhibitors, multiplex chains, OTT services, television networks, digital platforms, advertisers, licensors, licensees, aggregators, syndicators and other related entities.

The notice reads, “Notice is hereby given to the public at large, and to the Indian film trade in particular, including without limitation all distributors, exhibitors, cinema chains, OTT and streaming platforms, television broadcasters, digital platforms, advertisers, licensors, licensees, aggregators, syndicators, and all other persons and entities concerned, that Cape of Good Films LLP is the sole and exclusive holder of an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, and unencumbered licence to produce, distribute, market, exploit, commercialise, and otherwise deal with the cinematograph film presently titled ‘Hera Pheri 3′(‘the Film’), together with all rights therein, across all modes, media, platforms, technologies, and formats, whether now known or hereafter devised.”
The public notice goes on to caution industry stakeholders against recognising or negotiating with any individual or organisation claiming an interest in Hera Pheri 3 without the production house’s consent
It further states, “All persons and entities are hereby called upon to recognise and respect the aforementioned rights of Cape of Good Films LLP and are further cautioned against entering into any arrangement, transaction, negotiation, representation, or dealing with any third-party claiming rights in or relating to the Film without the prior written authorisation of Cape of Good Films LLP.”

The Hera Pheri 3 Chaos & Priyadarshan’s Exit
The latest public notice comes at a time when Hera Pheri 3 continues to be embroiled in uncertainty and legal complications. The project has dominated headlines in recent weeks, particularly after Priyadarshan announced his exit as director
The veteran filmmaker also accused producer Firoz Nadiadwala of repeatedly disrespecting him during the course of their interactions. According to Priyadarshan, the film had the potential to grow into one of India’s biggest cinematic franchises had he remained at the helm

In an interview with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan recounted one of the incidents that led to his decision. “Firoz told Akshay, ‘You have the rights to makeHera Pheri 3, but never make it with Priyadarshan. That’s my only request.’ He has insulted me so many times. He told me that my cut of Hera Pheri (2000) looked like a poor man’s version and that he had to edit my five-hour movie. I initially agreed to do the third part with Akshay because I thought I could make one of this country’s biggest franchises. If I had directed it, I could’ve made it bigger than Dhurandhar. Akshay, Suniel and Paresh requested me to make Hera Pheri 3. When I narrated the story to them, they were all excited.”
Hera Pheri 3 was initially envisioned as a reunion of the franchise’s beloved trio: Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, with Priyadarshan returning to direct. However, the film has encountered multiple roadblocks over the past year. In May 2025, Paresh Rawal briefly exited the project before eventually coming back on board, while the production has continued to face a series of legal and ownership disputes
