Adult Swim brought the ninth season of Rick and Morty to an end earlier this summer, wasting little time expanding on the universe as the baton was handed off to the spin-off series, President Curtis. With the animated Head of State’s series already confirmed for a second season, the Smith family’s story is becoming a major force for the Cartoon Network programming block. Luckily, Adult Swim has plenty more series that it is looking to shine a spotlight on as Cartoon Network has big plans for this year’s New York Comic-Con. Both old and new series alike, this fall will see the block teasing some big things to come.

This October, Adult Swim will have special events dedicated to Common Side Effects and Get Jiro, with the old and new animated shows bringing something big to the convention. For Common Side Effects, the Adult Swim series will premiere its season two premiere on October 9th at 7 PM Eastern, followed by a panel hosted by creators Joe Bennett and Steve Hely. As for Get Jiro!, the upcoming new action series will screen its first installment with a panel taking place on October 10th at 6:45 PM Eastern. Both series fall under the Adult Swim banner, but the overall storylines couldn’t be more different.
Sushi and Mushrooms on Adult Swim

While Common Side Effectsmade serious waves with its first season, thanks to both its viewership and critical acclaim, Get Jirois a wild new series for Adult Swim to explore. The upcoming action-adventure is based on a graphic novel from 2012 co-created by legendary culinary expert Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose. Neither series has a specific release date revealed as of yet, though the hardcore tale of a sushi chef is slated to arrive this fall, with the animated parody knocking the pharmaceutical industry landing in early 2027. Both shows prove how Cartoon Network is still creating critically acclaimed, surreal series to this day, with Adult Swim remaining one of the most beloved animation platforms in recent memory.
While no footage has been released for Get Jiro’s premiere, Common Side Effects’ second season has teased what is to come for the Adult Swim series. Last year, we here at ComicBook.com had the opportunity to chat with the Adult Swim show’s co-creators about the possibility of Common Side Effects’ future. During our discussion, co-creators Joe Bennett and Steve Hely talked about the second season while teasing far more stories to come if they get the chance: “We hope to tell these stories for a long time to come. We’re here talking to you to spread the word and make sure people watch the show…But in success, yeah, I hope we keep going for a long time.”
