ACUVUE turns MRT media into a CORTIS fan moment

ACUVUE is using a Singapore MRT station to turn a regional K-pop ambassador deal into something fans can physically join.

Its Bras Basah activation for CORTIS is built around a reflective panel that lets commuters step into the frame with the group, take their own photos and share the result. The campaign also extends into retail through a limited-edition CORTIS collector set tied to selected ACUVUE purchases.

That makes the local execution more interesting than a standard celebrity takeover.

Instead of treating K-pop fandom as reach, ACUVUE is building around the things fans already do: pose with idol imagery, create their own content and collect member-specific visuals.

Why the MRT format changes the campaign

The strongest part of the activation is not that CORTIS appears in a high-traffic transit space.

It is that the media format gives people something to do.

ACUVUE’s reflective panel at Bras Basah MRT allows commuters to place themselves beside CORTIS in the campaign frame. That turns the placement into a photo prompt rather than a surface people simply pass on the way to a train.

The mechanic fits the brand platform too. ACUVUE is using the line “My vision is beyond the world I see”, and the local execution turns that idea into a literal visual interaction. Fans do not only look at the campaign. They use the reflective surface to put themselves inside it.

That matters because transit OOH usually has a short window to earn attention. A participatory format can give the same placement a second life as fan-made content once someone takes a photo and shares it elsewhere.

How ACUVUE borrows the mechanics of K-pop fandom

The Singapore rollout works because it does not stop at putting a K-pop group on an ad.

It follows familiar fandom behavior across several touchpoints.

The MRT panel creates a photo opportunity. The wider campaign extends into social and retail. ACUVUE is also offering a limited-edition CORTIS collector set with selected contact-lens purchases, including member imagery and an ACUVUE photo sleeve.

That gives fans a physical object to keep, not just an ad to notice.

Collectibles are already a familiar part of K-pop participation. Photocards, member versions and limited drops make fandom tangible, while photo spots give people a way to produce their own version of the campaign.

ACUVUE is borrowing those habits to make a contact-lens campaign feel closer to entertainment and lifestyle culture.

The regional campaign provides the broader platform. Marketing-Interactive reports that the CORTIS TVC gives each member a different interpretation of what it means to see beyond vision: to experience, understand, communicate, connect and discover.

The Singapore activation then makes that positioning physical.

    Why the Singapore timing matters

The local rollout is also timed around a real fan moment.

CORTIS is scheduled to perform at the Singapore Grand Prix on 9 October, with the Bras Basah activation running from 24 September to 21 October.

That gives ACUVUE a reason to localize the partnership now.

Rather than simply reusing a regional campaign asset, the brand is creating a Singapore-specific experience before the group’s first performance in the market. The activation can therefore sit inside the anticipation around the appearance rather than beside it.

The agency setup reflects that local layer. Johnson & Johnson Vision Care worked with OMD Singapore, AKA Asia and Stellar Ace on the rollout, combining media, communications and OOH execution.

For marketers, that is an important distinction in celebrity and ambassador campaigns.

A regional face can create consistency, but local relevance often comes from what people can actually do in a specific market.

What marketers can learn from the activation

ACUVUE’s CORTIS rollout offers a useful playbook for brands trying to turn ambassador marketing into participation.

    1. Design around fan behavior, not just fan attention.
    2. Make the media format part of the idea.
    3. Give the campaign a physical takeaway.
    4. Localize around a real cultural moment.
    5. Let the platform survive across channels.

The first lesson is to design around fan behavior rather than fan attention alone. The campaign mirrors familiar habits such as taking photos, sharing content and collecting imagery.

The second is to make the media format part of the creative idea. The reflective panel is the interaction, not just a backdrop.

The third is to give the campaign a physical takeaway. The collector set extends the ambassador relationship into retail.

The fourth is to localize around a real cultural moment. CORTIS’ Singapore performance gives ACUVUE a clear reason to create a market-specific activation.

The fifth is to let the platform survive across channels. “My vision is beyond the world I see” can move through regional film, local OOH, social and retail without every execution doing the same job.

There is no verified public campaign-performance data yet.

What is visible is the structure. ACUVUE has taken a regional K-pop ambassador partnership and translated it into the mechanics of fandom itself. The result is a campaign people can look at, step into, photograph and collect.
