    • The upcoming Absolute Batman animated series will not simply recreate the popular DC comic panel by panel, but will tell a bigger story while remaining faithful to the source material.
    • Scott Snyder is leading the creative side of the Absolute Batman TV series, which will be a major expansion of the comic’s first story arc with additional scenes to further develop the characters and plot.
    • The visual style of the animated series will stay true to the comic’s artwork by Nick Dragotta, aiming to bring the characters to life in a three-dimensional way while exploring moments and character development that were harder to include in the original comic.

The upcoming Absolute Batman animated series won’t simply recreate the pages of the popular DC comic. Instead of adapting the comic panel by panel, the series will tell a bigger story without altering what made thetory expands on the comic and discussed its animation and characters in a recent podcast

Scott Snyder teases a new direction for the Absolute Batman TV series

Speaking on the AIPT Comics Podcast, Snyder said development on the series is already underway. He is leading the project’s creative side, while Absolute Batman artist Nick Dragotta serves as executive producer. The team is finalising the overall format and episode count before moving into full production

Snyder elaborated that the series will be a major expansion of the comic’s first story arc. While the main plot will remain intact, the animated version will include additional scenes that will further develop the story and its characters. The goal is to build on the comic rather than replace it

Animation also gives the creators more freedom to explore characters’ moments and character development. Snyder said these scenes are harder to include in a monthly comic because of limited space. The TV format allows the team to slow down and spend more time with the characters

The visual style will remain close to the comic. Snyder shared that the team wants the series to “come to life three-dimensionally in the coolest way.” Instead of making it look like live action, the animation will stay true to Nich Dragotta’s work

The release date remains unknown for now. However, Snyder’s latest comments suggested that fans can expect more than a direct adaptation. The series will keep the heart of Absolute Batman while expanding its first story
