In the previous comic book news in brief, Batman sends a message to Vandal Savage by destroying Wayne Manor (which Vandal purchased). During She-Spawn No. 1, it’s revealed that Al Simmons is a kid and needs to be protected. This week, there’s a lot to cover, so let’s start with something vile that happened in DC Comics’ Absolute Universe.

    Knull killed who?!

    • Title:KnullNo. 5
    • Writers: Al Ewing and Tom Waltz
    • Artist: Juanan Ramírez
    • Colors: Erick Arciniega

Knull went from the King in Black to the King in White. But he tells Thanos that while the gimmick may have changed, the goal of absolute nothing remains. Sadly, Thanos won’t be around to see if it happens because Knull killed the Mad Titan. Honestly, it’s Thanos’ own fault for telling Knull he should have gone for the head.

    The truth about Bruce

    • Title:Absolute BatmanNo. 20
    • Writer: Scott Snyder
    • Artist: Nick Dragotta
    • Colorist: Frank Martin

Bruce Wayne goes to Blackgate Prison to talk to Joe Chill, but his conversation is interrupted by Scarecrow. During Batman’s talk with his newest villain, he’s given a shocking truth. Thomas Wayne’s death at the zoo wasn’t random. It appears to have been a message from Grimm (Joker) to Martha Wayne for being a member of the Court of Owls.

    The Spiral continues

    • Title:Amazing Spider-Man / Venom: Death Spiral – Body CountNo. 1
    • Writer: Charles Soule
    • Artist: Kev Walker
    • Colors: Matt Hollingsworth

At the end of the Spider-Man/Venomcrossover, Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral, Venom/Mary Jane Watson killed Spiral by dropping him off a building. In the wrap-up issue, Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral – Body CountNo. 1, readers learn who Spiral was and why he started his mission. But, more importantly, it looks like his little sister sees the spirals around people and may continue his twisted legacy.

    Dead and in Hell

    • Title:Captain AmericaNo. 11
    • Writer: Chip Zdarsky
    • Artist: Valerio Schiti
    • Colorist: Romulo Fajardo Jr.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Captain America and Victor Von Doom would be fighting for their souls during Avengers: Armageddon. I assumed Cap was going to save Dr. Doom while he was in Hell. Instead, in Captain America No. 11, readers see that Steve Rogers was killed and ended up in Hell.

    The truth

    • Title:Absolute Martian ManhunterNo. 11
    • Writer: Deniz Camp
    • Artist: Javier Rodríguez
    • Colors: Javier Rodríguez

As the Green Martian fights the people who kidnapped him, John Jones is tormented by Despair-The-Zero. He tells John things about his past and present that may not be true, except for one fact. John’s son died eating a poisoned Choco (Absolute Martian Hunhunter No. 6). Now we just need to learn what is real and what is Martian-Vision. Hopefully, that’s explained in the series finale.

    Tony’s new enemy

    • Title:Iron ManNo. 5
    • Writer: Joshua Williamson
    • Penciller: Jan Bazaldua and Carmen Carnero
    • Colorist: Nolan Woodard

In Iron Man No. 4, Norbert Ebersol (Fixer) murdered Adam Ware…or so we thought. Apparently, he survived and killed Eberso inIron Man No. 5. On top of that, Ware now controls all of the tech in A.I.M. and has named himself the terrorist organization’s new boss. Ware says he has new ideas, but are they altruistic or evil?

    Firestorm vs the Justice League

    • Title:The Fury of FirestormNo. 2
    • Writer: Jeff Lemire
    • Artist: Rafael de Latorre
    • Colors: Marcelo Maiolo

The Firestorm Matrix came to life and started killing innocent people as an experiment. This started as a problem for the military, but they failed at stopping it. Now it’s time for the Justice League (Flash, Martian Manhunter, Kyle Rayner, Supergirl, and Hawkgirl) to take a shot. Sadly, it’s doubtful they’ll win.

    Death of the Starros

    • Title:Emperor AquamanNo. 17
    • Writer: Jeremy Adams
    • Artists: John Timms
    • Colors: Rex Lokus

The Starros have been the cause of many people in the universe, but that just came to an end. Jarro took over Aquaman’s body and killed its father and all of the unborn before they could hatch. The only ones left are flying to space. It makes me wonder how long until Jarro goes after them.
