YouTube is hiding a hidden Mario Kart game that you can actually play
Mario Kart World recently dropped two new Knockout Tours in a surprise update from Nintendo. While no plans were laid out, it was teased that more is to come, which hopefully means new tracks, characters, and modes
While you wait for Nintendo to lock-in though, you should know that a free Mario Kart game can be found on YouTube, as an interactive video
Mario Kart Is Playable WIthout A Nintendo Switch/Switch 2
The YouTube channel Atlas Arcade has a history of posting videos that double as playable video games. They’re free and simply use your keyboard and mouse like any other game compatible with your web browser
One of the latest is a functional Mario Kart level, which you should enjoy while you can as Nintendo will probably move to strike it down sooner or later. At the time of writing, it’s still available to play
The video is simply titled Mario Kart but it’s PLAYABLE in YouTube! and allows players to select their character before tearing down the infamous Rainbow Road. Your goal is to make it to the end of the road while dodging the holes in the floor. Fall off, and you’ll disappear in the cold, dark void of space
It’s reminiscent of Super Mario Kart, the original Mario Kart game released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992

This version obviously isn’t as complex as that, and while it does use pixel-art the detail isn’t as grand as you’ll find in an official Nintendo release. That’s probably a good thing though, as we said before, Nintendo is probably going to have this video deleted at some point
Despite being incredibly simple and basically begging for a cease and desist, this charming little YouTube creation is a lot of fun and a fantastic idea
We’ve all had a bit too much free time on our hands and wanted to kill some minutes doing something fun, and a quick spin on Mario Kart withoutthe need to boot up your Nintendo Switch is quite cool. You should definitely give this a go before it’s struck down
As for Mario Kart World,we’re honestly surprised that Nintendo hasn’t updated it sooner. The Nintendo Switch 2 launch title did little to convince gamers to buy the new console, partly due to how plain it looked compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The open-world driving mechanic was a neat idea but could have been pushed further, and with so little to do and unlock, it surprised no one when players started to drop off in favour of other Nintendo Switch games
Hopefully, a few new updates that bolster its character roster and add new modes to play with friends will be all that’s needed to give it a new lease on life
