Pokémon Tales Heads to Disney+ With Aardman Stop-Motion
The new series follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they protect Pokémon across Galar.

Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichuwill stream exclusively on Disney+ worldwide in 2027, marking Pokémon’sfirst stop-motion series produced by Aardman. The Pokémon Company International and Disney+ announced their global distribution agreement on Aug 28, 2026.
A teaser trailer and new footage were also presented during PokémonXP.
Pokémon Tales Takes Sirfetch’d and Pichu Across Galar
The series follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they travel through the Galar region to protect other Pokémon. Their missions bring them into encounters with dangers, rivals, and allies, while their experiences gradually develop their friendship. A PokémonXP panel titled Behind the Scenes with Aardman featured director Tom Parkinson, creative director, Natalie McKay, and creative lead, James Young.
Aardman, the British studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, is handling the stop-motion production. Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis said the studio offers a new way to present familiar Pokémon. At the same time, The Pokémon Company International’s Phil Rynda highlighted the decision to tell the adventure from Pokémon’s point of view.
The trailer shows the pair attempting to protect Pokémonacross Galar, with their plans repeatedly running into trouble. Peril, alliances, rivalries, and comedy will shape their journey.
Pokémon Expands its Animation Lineup
The series adds to Pokémon’s recent lineup of standalone animated projects. These include the World Earth Day anime, CoMix Wave Films’ Dragonite short released for Pokémon Day 2025, and the recent POKÉTOON short Wartortle and the Continuation of Summer, directed by Shingo Yamashita.
It will also arrive in the same year as Pokémon WindsandPokémon Waves, the Generation 10 games announced during Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
