PlayStation 5 owners can currently purchase 007 First Light for $59.99, down from its usual $69.99 price on the PS Store. The offer is available through September 9, 2026
007 First Light was released on May 27, 2026, for PS5 and other platforms. In the past few months, it has turned into a widely celebrated game, earning mostly positive reactions.
What did critics say about 007 First Light?
Upon release, 007 First Light received rave reviews and impressed fans of the James Bond franchise as well as those who adore adventure titles.
Its critical reception is reflected in its Metascore of 87 out of 100 and a fantastic User Score of 8.3 out of 10 on Metacritic. As a result, it has even emerged as a frontrunner for the Game of the Year crown.
The official description for the game reads, “After a heroic act, young Naval air crewman James Bond is offered to join the newly revived Double 0 program. But when a mission to stop a rogue agent ends in tragedy, he must join forces with his reluctant mentor Greenway to expose a deep conspiracy and stop a looming coup at the heart of the State.”
Unlike the movies, First Light does not feature an already experienced and polished Bond. Instead, the story follows Bond as a rookie who earns his iconic 007 status after demonstrating his charm, courage, and intelligence throughout various missions.
The gameplay features varied locations, character-driven moments, and intense action set pieces. What makes First Light highly immersive is its stellar voice cast, led by Patrick Gibson as the titular character. American singer Lenny Kravitz voices the villain Bawma.
The cast also includes Noémie Nakai as Isola Vale, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Lennie James as Greenway, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, Gemma Chan as Dr. Selina Tan, Raquel Cipriano as Theresa Lorca, and more.
