Come with me if you want SOBS.
I’m going to jump ahead and look back at the great Wolverine stories over the decades, going back to the Krako era. Especially in that strange period that served as a bridge from the two Hickman movements to the two post-Hickman movements, from Reign of X arrive X’s fate. Which is kind of fitting considering the chaos of time travel shenanigans around the world X-Men title, but also one of the big titles, days past and future, The standout feature is Wolverine.
In the early days of Craco, X-Force Serving as the backbone for some of the series’ ongoing political and character arcs. when it expands further Wolverine Added to the mix, these two books carve out their own black ops/intelligence corners in the mutant world. Then they became a pair of event books hell Setting the stage for the next step in the overall Krakoa arc.
“endless. Just the beginning of the end. There’s nothing you can do to stop this.
Wolverine’s X Life/Wolverine’s X Death go through Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara, Federico Visentini, Frank Martin, Dijo Lima, and Corey Pettit Technically, it’s two stories that are then merged into one ending. The first story follows Wolverine’s journey into the past to stop Omega Red from killing Xavier and his bloodline. The second Wolverine who saw the future came to the present to stop Moira McTaggart. What ensues is wobbly and timely.
X life Spool detachment in progress Wolverine and X-Force The story arc, involving Russia and Omega Red, weaves an intricate web of stories that takes Logan back to some important moments in his life. It’s non-linear and fragmented, initially leaving you guessing what the hell is going on. It’s an interesting journey into Wolverine’s history as he attempts to save the past to preserve the future. And the Mikhail storyline develops in a unique way.
Joshua Cassara and Frank Martin handle the art here. Kassala has essentially cemented herself as an artistic powerhouse X-Force and X-Men He also shined here during Krakoa’s time. He has a unique style that incorporates exaggerated lines and shading that I call hairy. Especially when it comes to Krakoa’s natural elements. Frank Martin’s colors really add to the dark atmosphere in many of the past sequences.
“Maybe this sounds crazy, but it gives me hope.
X number of deaths Instead, Wolverine comes from the future to stop Moira McTaggart from carrying out her evil plan to stop mutants. Basically Terminator. But what if John Connor was evil and tried to start Rise of the Machines. Moira becomes the bad guy because of some weird moral compass. The whole family will have some fun when Logan’s kids join in the fray.
Federico Vicentini and Dijjo Lima handle the latter series. Visentini’s style isn’t that different from Casara’s, but he’s more inspired by the edges of Joe Madureira, Humberto Ramos and Rafael Albuquerque The influence of a distinct, rough style. Lima’s choice of colors for this story is a bit darker, though both Moira’s arm and future Wolverine’s infection have a familiar phalanx sheen.
The two books intertwine in the final chapters, with the real Wolverine returning to the present to stop the future Wolverine. I found it worked well as two companion volumes, thematically and practically blended into one story. Although it sets up a distracting ending, defeating Wolverine from the future while other threats still exist.
All of this combined with Percy’s sardonic wit, Corey Pettit’s letters, and Tom Mueller’s overall design also place it squarely in the Craco era.
“I think he’s the best…”
Wolverine’s X Life/Wolverine’s X Death Created by Percy, Cassara, Vicentini, Martin, Lima and Pettit, the two stories combined into one continue many of the ongoing story threads from the Clark era and turn them into An exploration of Wolverine’s past and mutant future. There are some interesting twists and turns along the way. It plays with time and fate, making you wonder what will happen next in the era of Krakow.
