“Batman Caped Crusader” is the latest series from Prime Video. We’ve seen countless versions of Gotham’s heroes over the years, with movies seemingly coming out every few years. With the success of My Adventures with Superman , there was no way DC Comics wouldn’t give us an animated version of another of their golden boys.
“Welcome to Gotham City, a place where there is more corruption than good people, where criminals are rampant and law-abiding citizens live in constant fear. Forged in the flames of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes a man who is neither The man who is not human – Batman. His single-handedly righteous cause attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions have fatal and unforeseen consequences.

“The series reimagines the Batman mythology through the visionary lens of executive producers JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm. Based on the DC character, Batman: The Caped Crusader is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Abrams Bad Robot Productions with Reeves, Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipsky, Rachel Rush Rich and Sam Lester.

The animation style immediately stands out as a throwback to the ’90s Batman: The Animated Series. Even though the animation is retro, it doesn’t feel like a direct copy of the last entry. Their creators took it to the next level with different costumes of the classic villains we’re used to. For example, the new take on Barbara Gordon and Harley Quinn was unexpected, but it totally works because sometimes these stories and characters can get stale.
Batman/Bruce Wayne voice actor Hamish Linklater sounds very similar to the iconic Kevin Conroy, but has his own interpretation of the character. The play is set in the dark 1920s and 1930s, giving it a fresh cinematic feel. Fans will be delighted to see familiar Rogues: Harvey Dent, Clayface, Scarecrow, Penguin and more. Be prepared that while these villains are classic, some have been updated and changed.

Every episode is outstanding, with great voice acting, exciting dialogue, and great action scenes. This season we go on a journey with Bruce, watching him grow from a hard-hearted vigilante to a man who cares about the consequences of his actions, but who always maintains the toughness of Batman. There aren’t many comedic moments in the show, the show is as serious as its protagonist. “Batman: Caped Crusader” appealed to adults rather than younger audiences, which allowed it to have cruder language and themes.

A synopsis reads: “Utilizing state-of-the-art animation technology, this powerful creative partnership will once again reinvent the character and his iconic Rogues Gallery with complex storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences, all of which All set in a visually striking world”. I totally agree. Batman fans, be sure to tune in and watch this – you won’t be disappointed.
All 10 episodes of “Batman: Caped Crusader” will premiere on Prime Video on August 1.
