Despite suffering a barrage of leaks that exposed everything from its Leonida map to protagonist Jason wandering through a nudist town, Rockstar Games is holding firm on its unconventional marketing strategy for Grand Theft Auto VI.

The studio’s highly anticipated presentation, billed as GTA 6: An Extended Look, is set to debut as a first-of-its-kind Netflix exclusive. While Rockstar remains tight-lipped about the exact contents of the broadcast, industry speculation suggests fans could finally be treated to substantial official gameplay footage, or potentially the long-awaited Trailer 3.

    A Controversial Netflix Exclusive

While GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated video game in history, the decision to gatekeep its next major marketing beat behind a subscription service has ignited fierce backlash. The broadcast will enjoy a six-hour exclusivity window on Netflix starting at 3 PM ET on August 27.

Many players have voiced concerns over this strategy, fearing it sets a dangerous industry precedent where publishers monetize access to basic promotional material. However, those unwilling to pay for a Netflix subscription won’t be left in the dark for long.

GTA 6 Extended Look: When and Where to Watch

Just six hours after the Netflix premiere, Rockstar will make the broadcast available for free on its official YouTube channel.

Here is the global breakdown for both the Netflix premiere and the subsequent YouTube release:

Platform Eastern Time (ET) British Summer Time (BST) Australian Eastern (AEST)
Netflix (Exclusive Premiere) August 27 at 3:00 PM August 27 at 8:00 PM August 28 at 5:00 AM
YouTube (Free Release) August 27 at 9:00 PM August 28 at 2:00 AM August 28 at 11:00 AM

The ‘Cyberleek’ Manifesto and the Physical Disc Dispute

The marketing rollout is far from the only controversy currently surrounding the title. Rockstar’s recent decision to ship physical editions of the game without an actual disc inside—opting instead for a digital download code—has drawn intense ire from game preservationists and physical media advocates.

This specific grievance has reportedly motivated a high-profile, anonymous leaker known as “Cyberleek.” The individual recently published a manifesto claiming that the ongoing barrage of leaks is a direct protest against Rockstar’s physical disc omission. Cyberleek has explicitly threatened to continue leaking proprietary game material until the studio issues a public apology and addresses the community’s concerns.

Despite the leaks, the backlash, and the ongoing digital drama, the finish line is finally in sight. Grand Theft Auto VI is officially slated to launch on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
