A trailer for Penguins was released during San Diego Comic-Con. The upcoming “Batman” spin-off will be an HBO original limited series. Batman’s Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oswald “Ozzy” Cobblepot, and while others see disaster, the Penguin sees an opportunity to take control of the underworld. But as the new trailer shows, Oz faces a significant adversary.
Ever since Carmine Falcone was killed in The Batman , his daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) believes she is the natural choice to take over the crime family. This puts her at odds with Oz, and we first see Sofia apparently being sent to Arkham Asylum. It also suggests that she may have been a vigilante killer known as “The Executioner.”
The trailer also establishes two important relationships in Oz. He cares for his mentally ill mother, Frances Cobb (Deirdre O’Connell), while coaching his new driver, Victor Aguilar (Lenzi Feliz). Oz even seems to really like Victor, which could put him in danger. Victor seemed particularly afraid of what Sophia would do to them.
Michael Kelly also stars in the series as Johnny Vitti, alongside Shori Agdasloo as Nadia Maroney, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroney and James Madio as Milos ·Grappa, Scott Cohen as Luca Falcone, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Theo Rossi as Julian Rush, Carmen Ejogo as I Fukalo.
HBO and Max will premiere “Penguin” on September 19.
