The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly in discussions to resume her acting career with an appearance in Guy Ritchie‘s television series The Gentlemen.
Speculation regarding a return to her former profession follows news on Wednesday that she and the Duke of Sussex will relocate to the UK with their young children later this month. The couple are set to live in a non-royal residence outside London, having already enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools.
Prior to her relationship with Harry, the 45-year-old rose to fame as Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits and appeared in films including Horrible Bosses, A Lot Like Love and Random Encounters.
Deadline first reported that preliminary talks are taking place for her first major acting role since her marriage. It is understood she may join director Ritchie for a potential role in the popular Netflix drama, which stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario.
The action-comedy follows Duke Eddie Horniman, who unexpectedly inherits his late father’s country estate only to find it conceals an underground cannabis empire. The show is a spin-off of Ritchie’s blockbuster film of the same title, which centred on an American drug lord attempting to sell his UK empire.
Having premiered in 2024, a second season is scheduled for release later this year. Meghan is reportedly in talks for a prospective third series, though Deadline noted the show has yet to be renewed.
Filming for the first series was primarily hosted at Badminton House in South Gloucestershire, 10 miles from the King’s Highgrove home and close to the Cotswolds.
The duchess recently returned to screen acting with a cameo as herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, starring Lily Collins and Brie Larson, marking her first performance in nearly a decade.
A leading talent manager told the Press Association that directors and producers will “absolutely want to meet” Meghan if she resumes acting, noting he had “no doubt there would be interest in her”.
Professor Jonathan Shalit, chairman of InterTalent Rights Group, added: “If Meghan decided tomorrow that she seriously wanted to act again, directors and producers would absolutely want to meet her and audition her.
“Would she automatically be handed every role she wanted? Of course not. Nobody is. But would doors open? Absolutely.”
