The Nike x ONE PIECE collaboration has officially been announced. The collection includes Air Max Plus sneakers, jerseys, T shirts and caps, with product designs inspired by the Devil Fruits, mysterious fruits that grant extraordinary abilities to those who take a bite. Details throughout the collection incorporate elements from the world of ONE PIECE.

Nike x ONE PIECE Collection Launches in September

Select items from the Nike x ONE PIECE Collection are scheduled to go on sale beginning September 4 at the Dr. B’s RESEARCH LAB pop up store in Tokyo and at NIKE UMEDA. Selected Nike stores are also expected to offer Nike By You customization experiences related to the collection.

Nick Remlinger, GM of Energy Gaming at Nike, commented, “We were inspired by the mysterious abilities that ONE PIECE characters gain when they eat Devil Fruits. It is almost like the feeling athletes get when they put on a pair of Nikes. From there, we began reimagining the beloved Air Max Plus in a form that fans of the model have never seen before. As we roll out this collection, there are still many more surprises ahead, just as there are on any adventure.”

Three Air Max Plus Designs Inspired by Devil Fruits

Three designs and colorways inspired by the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Ope Ope no Mi and Mera Mera no Mi have been incorporated into newly engineered Air Max Plus uppers.

Each shoe is accompanied by an Air Max Plus jersey and cap inspired by products from the Nike archive.

Beyond the footwear and jerseys, the collection also includes T shirts featuring a design based on the Jolly Roger drawn by protagonist Monkey D. Luffy as a symbol of a certain promise, as well as manga illustrations reimagined in the style of classic Nike advertisements.

A vest is also included, taking inspiration from the effects of Devil Fruits, whose users are said to be hated by the sea and lose the ability to swim after eating them.

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery. That largely comes from the stellar two parter “Feet of Clay” from Batman: The Animated Series, a series of episodes that condensed the long and convoluted story of Clayface into a singular and tragic narrative
