The Great Lakes and New England get another chance when they face off in Game 14 of the Little League Baseball World Series on Saturday afternoon. This game between the New England and Great Lakes Regions will be the second of the day after Canada vs. Australia face off at 1 p.m. ET. Then the Caribbean and Japanese teams play at 5 p.m. ET, and the finale tonight will be between the Southeast and West regions. All the teams playing today lost their first games of this LLWS from Williamsport, PA. This tournament started on Aug. 19 and will go through the end of the month, with the championship game on Aug. 30. The Great Lakes Region team is represented by West Side LL from Hamilton, OH. West Side LL went 4-0 in their regional tournament but lost a very close tournament opener, 6-5, to the Mountain Region (Paseo Verde LL – Henderson, NV). Great Lakes led the Mountain Region by a run in the fourth inning, but West Side LL wasn’t able to score the rest of the game. The Mountain region walked off the game in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bridgewater Joe Lazaro LL team is the New England Region representative of this tournament from Bridgewater, MA. They were also undefeated in their regional tournament with a 3-0 record. New England also lost a close game in their tournament opener, dropping 2-1 to the Metro Region (Bayonne Central LL – Bayonne, NJ). Metro got the first run of the game in the first inning, and New England tied it in the third. But they couldn’t score again, and Metro also walked off the game in the sixth. This is a double-elimination tournament, so a lot is on the line for both of these teams today.
