Welcome back to Super Sonic Monthly, AIPT’s recurring column in partnership with IDW and Sega, where we bring your questions directly to the team behind IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comics and get a few exclusives along the way.

There’s plenty to dig into for #7. This month, AIPT has the exclusive reveal of Sonic the Hedgehog #92’s covers and story details, Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla #4’s covers and info, and an exclusive preview of Sonic the Hedgehog #89.
On the Q&A side, Sonic Editorial offers some tantalizing hints about what lies ahead as the series continues its march toward Sonic the Hedgehog #100. Tangle and Whisper will take center stage again in issues #92 and #93 as they figure out what comes next with Mimic out of the picture, while issues #94 through #96 might scratch that fighting tournament itch fans have been asking about.
There’s even an early tease about the scope of issue #100. And speaking of Shadow, could he take Surge in a fight? Apparently, breakfast could decide <a href="https://comicvibe.com/the-fixers-netflix-taiwanese-action-comedy-release-date-everything-we-know/” title=”'The Fixers' Netflix Taiwanese Action Comedy: Release Date & Everything We Know”>everything. Plus, Sonic Editorial has a message for the artists out there: Send in your fan art! Submissions could even wind up featured in the comics.
Check out all the fan questions and answers below, along with our three exclusives for Super Sonic Monthly #7!

Time for your questions!
Big Picture & Creative Direction
TheSolDimensionEnthusiast asks: With Whisper the Wolf’s arch-enemy Mimic seemingly off the scene, are there still big plans for Tangle and Whisper’s roles in future story arcs?
Sonic Editorial: You’ll be able to catch up with Tangle and Whisper in issues #92–#93! We’re excited for them to be able to figure out what they want to do now that Mimic is out of the picture. But you can rest assured that they’ll always be around to help out Sonic, in addition to going on their own adventures.
Neutron Star asks: Has there ever been discussion around establishing a place—like a high-security prison or even something akin to Arkham Asylum—within the IDW Sonic universe, where major villains could be held instead of disappearing after their arcs end? It could be an interesting way to keep characters available for future stories, rather than having them vanish indefinitely.
Sonic Editorial: There is Everhold Prison, which was featured in the Bad Guys miniseries. But for the most part, the bad guys disappear before they can be locked up! Plus, locking people up isn’t really Sonic’s style!
Chris asks: Any chance for a fighting tournament arc down the line?
Sonic Editorial: Oooh, that would be fun. You might be especially interested in Sonic #94–#96. If fans enjoy that, who knows, maybe we’ll have a larger arc, and everyone can make some brackets! Who would come out on top?
Joseph Cunningham asks: Are there any more Sonic comic crossovers planned for the future aside from Detective Comics?
Sonic Editorial: Friendly reminder that the first issue of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG X GODZILLA #1 is currently in comic shops! The epic series continues through December. As for more crossovers, there’s nothing currently in the works, but we would love to do more crossovers. Let us know what you’d like to see!
Character Arcs & Relationships
Jeffrey Booth asks: Will we see Shadow and Blaze in an issue together
Sonic Editorial: Shadow only shows up when he wants to, so it’s really hard to predict. Even we don’t know! (But the answer is yes, probably! I have a feeling Sonic will need a lot of support for #100! And if you’re really itching for more Shadow, keep an eye on SONIC X GODZILLA!)
Jubi asks: Who do you think would win in a fight? Surge or Shadow, and would it be an even or one sided fight?
Sonic Editorial: Hmmm, well who had a better breakfast that day? I have a feeling Surge eats really sugary cereal, so the sugar might help her with a strong start… but then she might have a crash! Shadow is for sure eating eggs for breakfast and downing a protein shake, so he might be able to outlast Surge. But… I’m secretly rooting for Surge.
Isabelle asks: Will there be more Blaze content in the upcoming comics, like showing more of the Sol Dimension, going on her own solo adventure, etc? She’s my favorite character!
Sonic Editorial: Blaze is SO COOL! We probably won’t explore the Sol Dimension (there’s too much going on in Sonic’s dimension!), but for as long as Blaze sticks around, we’ll keep up with her.
General
Jack Orange asks: Don and Nite seem to be close with the Chaotix! How’d they meet?
Sonic Editorial: Well, folks started calling into the radio station for help during the Metal Virus (see the 2020 annual)! Nite and Don couldn’t call Sonic for every problem, so they turned to the Chaotix for help… and for babysitting (see #48).
Jack Orange asks: Thinking about Tangle’s bike back in the early comics… Does Tangle go on bike rides with any of the other cast members?
Sonic Editorial: Oh, I bet she loves to go on bike rides with Whisper! With Mimic taken care of, Whisper is looking to take things slow and relax. I’m sure Tangle likes to do EXTREME BIKING, but could be persuaded to go on a more leisurely trip.
MikelaCountry asks: Can we make fanarts from them??
Sonic Editorial: PLEASE make fan art! We love to see it—and you can even send it in to our letters email for a chance to be featured in the comics!
!TenbeiHazard! asks: Do you think we might get to see Infinite return in any shape or form in the comics someday?
Sonic Editorial: I hope so! Infinite is such a cool villain, and would really shake things up.
Now for the Sonic the Hedgehog #89 preview!
Something sinister this way comes…
In the chaos of missing Emeralds, Blackwood the Ermine has welcomed Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat into his mighty castle with an air of grace and civility…but not all is as it seems. Blaze, as the imperial princess of ner own realm, effortlessly navigates the politics of high society, but Silver struggles to keep up. Instead, he discovers some of the stranger details hidden behind the pristine exterior: The ornate hallways are buzzing with the mansion’s cheerful staff…who all seem to operate in perfect unity.
It’s up to our heroes to get to the bottom of this gothic mystery and see how it connects to the mysterious villain haunting our narrative… Don’t miss this creepy tale as the next arc on the road to #100 starts here!
