Celebrity obsession and identity are about to take a dark, Cronenbergian turn. Image Comics has announced In Your Skin, a new standalone body horror graphic novel from writer Aditya Bidikar (The Department of Truth, Blue In Green) and artist SOM (Crocodile Black), set to hit shelves this fall.
The story centers on Priyanka, a lifelong Bollywood superfan of film star Ayesha Sen. Having memorized every dance and watched every film countless times, Priyanka’s admiration crosses a dangerous line after a chance meeting with her idol goes wrong. With Ayesha announcing her impending retirement from acting, Priyanka decides that if her idol won’t live a “perfect” life, she will simply take it for herself.
Image Comics describes the project as a twisted exploration of celebrity culture, citing comparisons to films like The Substance and Black Swan, as well as literary works like Mona Awad’s Rouge and Patricia Highsmith’s classic thriller, The Talented Mr. Ripley.
In Your Skin collects the complete four-issue miniseries into a single trade paperback. It will be available at local comic book shops on Wednesday, October 28, followed by a wide release at major retailers—including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones—on Tuesday, November 24.
The graphic novel will also be available digitally across major platforms including Kindle, Google Play, Apple iBooks, Nook, and more.
