Jeremy Robinson and VAULT COMICS – the best in horror, fantasy, and science fiction graphic novels!

    Horror dances on gossamer wings…
An island village off Salem, Massachusetts, is inundated by a strange species of butterflies that spread the Dancing Plague and have a very particular taste in nectar…human blood. Watch a quaint village descend into madness!
A supernatural thriller from New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Robinson and phenom artists Annapaola Martello and Francesco Francini.
For fans of Midnight Mass, Salem’s Lot, Let The Right One In, 30 Days of Night, Those Across the River, and The Witch.
“…fans of gothic-tinged folk horror will enjoy the sugar rush of terror.”—Publishers Weekly

Right now, the cicadas scream their hearts out in trees and thunderstorms roll in, but we know that the “Brrr” months are coming near. While Brr refers to the fact that September-December ends in “ber,” it also reflects the fall in temperatures (at least in the Northern hemisphere). Even more importantly, we are nearing the darkest and spookiest time in the year.

What better way to celebrate the spooky months than with horror comics? Here is a list of new and forthcoming horror comics, from horror folktales to cute and vicious stories.

    New Horror Comics

Beast of Borikén Patricio Delpeche, Daniel Irizarri, and Lucas Gattoni

In this five-series comic, Eisner Award-winning Julio Anta explores the horrors of overdevelopment in Puerto Rico and the fearsome Chupacabra. Loli Flores is an activist who is trying to stop outside investments from developing even more land on the island at the cost of the environment and the people living there. But everyone soon learns that Chupacabra is not just a story to scare children at night; the beast is very real and on a rampage. In an interview about the series, Irizarri said, “I’m excited to bring my artistic sensibilities to this pulp-horror story of protester grit and ancient spirits of vengeance.” Issues are still coming out; the trade may not come out until next year.

Toxy Noxy Foresty Forest, Vol. 1 by Noboru Segawa

This is one for the folks who love cute and creepy. It may look adorable, but it’s anything but. Tamago is a happy mushroom living in her mushroom village. Everything is perfect. But one day, a poisonous mushroom comes into the village and kills everyone but Tamago. Sweet, happy-go-lucky Tamago is now on a quest to avenge her family and village.

    Crownsville book cover

Crownsville by Rodney Barnes, Elia Bonetti, and Marshall Dillon

Recently published in a trade, Crownsville is all about collective trauma and the lingering legacy of racism. Eisner Award–nominated Rodney Barnes tells the story of Crownsville Hospital, an all-Black psychiatric institute outside Annapolis, Maryland. Even after it closes, stories of experimentation and abuse linger. When a body is found in the hospital, police detective Mike Simms is assigned to the case. Soon it’s clear that though the hospital may no longer house patients, their tortured spirits still remain…

    John Carpenter's Cathedral book cover

John Carpenter’s Cathedral by John Carpenter, Sandy King, and Sean Sobczak

The cathedral stands, forgotten and abandoned, as the city swirls all around it. But dark secrets and ancient evil reside within. When a horrific murder takes place in the cathedral, Lieutenant Christine Marks and detectives Paul Hernandez and Steve Mayfield find themselves investigating the death. They soon realize that a horrible creature is trapped beneath it in the catacombs, which past generations have kept contained. Now the police officers have to figure out how to fight the creature and keep it from escaping into the regular world. As a delightful bonus, Carpenter created a soundtrack to accompany the graphic novel, each track connecting with a specific part of the story. It’s not just a graphic novel, it’s an experience.

    Pretty Evil book cover

Pretty Evil by Rebeka McKendry, David Ian McKendry, and Tim Seeley (September 26)

This YA graphic novel is being described as a mix of K-Pop Demon Hunters and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Teen pop star Mallori may seem like she has everything—fame and fortune—but she wants to be an ordinary teenager. She chafes under the stern eye of her mother/manager. One morning, Mallori wakes up and discovers her mother has gone missing. She soon learns that her mom is a demon slayer who appears to have been kidnapped. Now, Mallori has to find her mom, killing demons along the way.

    Bleeding Hearts book cover

Bleeding Hearts Vol. 1: Out-Break by Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian (October 20)

We’ve seen stories about people bitten by zombies who become zombies themselves. Here, it’s kinda the opposite. The zombies won the war for Earth and have developed their own culture and customs. Any human survivors are on the run. But when Mouse-Pokes-Golf-Ball-Through-Hole-In-Head (Poke for short)’s heart starts beating again, his entire worldview changes about humans. That could prove fatal—or more fatal—as it puts Poke at odds with the rest of his zombie horde.

    FML book cover

FML Volume 1: Fire by Kelly Sue DeConnick, David Lopez, and Cris Peter (November 3)

Here’s a new comic collection from Eisner-Award winning Kelly Sue DeConnick. Who hasn’t wished the fantasy worlds we read about and dream about were real? But sometimes you don’t want your wishes to come true. Growing up in Portland, teenager Riley dreams of a future in heavy metal, but real life keeps getting in the way, like the drama and preoccupations of his family and his current band. But those things become less annoying when he participates in a ritual in Forest Park that may have brought his fantasy world to life. As if being a teenager wasn’t hard enough.

Odinby James Tyrion IV, Letizia Cadonici, Jordie Bellaire, and Marguerite Bennett (December 10)

Eisner-Award winning writer James Tyrion is one of those comic book writers who never disappoints me, so I’m very excited about this series. It’s pretty safe to say that bringing back a god is never a good idea. Even worse when the summoners are Neo Nazis who think that Odin will bring an age of white supremacy. Intrepid journalist Adela is in the middle of the developing story, after infiltrating the group. Things go terribly wrong and quickly.

That’s just a taste of the horror comics this fall! If you want more horror comics. Here’s a list of best horror comics in the 2020s and here’s another one with more horror comics.
