Samsung just landed one of gaming’s biggest partnerships. The company announced today it’s the official TV, monitor, soundbar, and Wi-Fi speaker partner for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, launching this October. The deal puts Samsung’s display tech front and center for one of the world’s most popular gaming franchises, with HDR10+ GAMING integration and exclusive beta access for Samsung users.

Samsung is making a major play for the living room gaming market. The electronics giant announced an exclusive partnership with Activision today, positioning itself as the official display and audio partner for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It’s a strategic move that puts Samsung hardware at the center of one of gaming’s most anticipated releases this fall.

The partnership goes beyond typical sponsorship. Modern Warfare 4 will integrate Samsung’s HDR10+ GAMING technology, which promises more accurate color and contrast across the company’s TV and monitor lineup. According to Samsung’s announcement, the tech is designed to preserve the creative vision developers had in mind.

“We are pleased to be the official TV, monitor, soundbar and Wi-Fi speaker partner for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, bringing players a more immersive experience through Samsung’s premium display and audio technologies,” Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, said in the release. “We will continue working with leading developers to strengthen gaming experiences across our display portfolio.”

But the real differentiator comes with ultrawide support. Modern Warfare 4 will officially support a 32:9 super ultrawide aspect ratio, meaning Samsung Odyssey G9 users get a significantly wider field of view compared to standard displays. It’s a feature competitive players have been requesting for years, and Samsung managed to secure it as a technical showcase for its premium monitor line.

Cody Neal, Head of Partnerships at Activision, told Samsung that “partnering with Samsung allows us to showcase the game with clarity, scale, and responsiveness that complement the intensity at the heart of Call of Duty.” The comment suggests Activision sees value in aligning with premium display makers as gaming hardware becomes increasingly fragmented.

Samsung isn’t just putting its name on the box. The company is distributing beta early access codes through the Samsung Promotion app, giving select users a chance to play Modern Warfare 4 from August 21-25, three days before the open beta kicks off on August 28. It’s a tactical move that turns Samsung TV and monitor owners into an exclusive community with perks beyond hardware specs.

The partnership extends to Samsung Gaming Hub, the company’s cloud gaming platform built into its smart TVs. Hub users will be able to stream Call of Duty: NEXT, Activision’s annual showcase event, live on August 21 at 9 am PST. A promotional banner will run in the Gaming Hub masthead leading up to the event, essentially turning Samsung TVs into marketing vehicles for the franchise.

Samsung Gaming Hub has been the company’s answer to the streaming console war, offering access to Xbox Cloud Gaming and other services without requiring additional hardware. By embedding Call of Duty content directly into the interface, Samsung is betting that exclusive game-related perks can drive TV sales as much as picture quality.

The partnership will have a physical presence too. Samsung is bringing Modern Warfare 4 to its booth at Gamescom 2026, running August 26-30 in Cologne, Germany. Visitors will get hands-on time with the game on Samsung Odyssey monitors before the October 23 launch. Select attendees will even walk away with Vault Edition Battle.net game codes, a premium version of the title that typically retails for $100 or more.

This isn’t Samsung’s first gaming partnership, but it’s arguably the most aggressive. The company has been positioning its display business around gaming for years, touting low input lag and high refresh rates as Xbox and PlayStation pushed 120Hz gaming. Now, with PC gaming crossing into the mainstream and cloud gaming eliminating hardware barriers, Samsung is staking a claim as the premium display choice regardless of platform.

The timing aligns with broader shifts in the gaming market. Console exclusives are disappearing, cross-platform play is standard, and players are increasingly willing to invest in displays that work across devices. Samsung’s bet is that a partnership with Call of Duty, a franchise that generated over $30 billion in lifetime revenue, can cement its displays as the default choice for serious players.

What remains to be seen is whether display partnerships translate to sales. Gamers are notoriously price-sensitive, and Samsung’s premium Odyssey monitors and Neo QLED TVs don’t come cheap. But with Modern Warfare 4 set to be one of the biggest launches of 2026, Samsung is clearly betting that aligning with blockbuster franchises can shift purchasing decisions when players are already opening their wallets.

Samsung’s partnership with Call of Duty signals a maturation of the gaming display market. As console exclusives fade and cross-platform gaming becomes the norm, display quality matters more than the box under the TV. Samsung is positioning itself as the premium choice with exclusive features, early access perks, and direct integration with major franchises. Whether that’s enough to justify the price premium over budget displays remains the question, but with Modern Warfare 4 set to dominate this fall, Samsung has picked the right franchise to make its case.
