TL;DR: Developer ANB_Seth and publisher 2080 Games say Gunman Contracts will launch alongside Valve’s Steam Frame, claiming a release is “just around the corner” though they can’t share details. Valve added “Great on Frame” Steam tags, expanded compatibility checks, and gained FCC certification; the headset’s summer ship window and final price remain unconfirmed.

Valve has kept quiet on the Steam Frame’s exact launch date and price since its initial summer 2026 target, but a developer appears to know more than they can say. ANB_Seth, the developer behind VR shooter Gunman Contracts, posted in the game’s official Discord that both he and publisher 2080 Games have decided to launch alongside the Steam Frame, adding that they feel confident a launch date is “just around the corner.”

“As long as Valve has not <a href="https://comicvibe.com/disneys-d23-all-the-movies-tv-series-and-more-announced-so-far/” title=”Disney's D23: All the movies, TV series and more announced so far”>announced any public information on it, so can’t I,” ANB_Seth wrote. While the developer cannot share the details publicly, it’s hard not to read the coordinated launch as a sign that the studio has some internal visibility into Valve’s timeline. 2080 Games has since confirmed the coordinated launch and said Gunman Contracts will support SteamVR-compatible headsets from day one.

Valve has also been dropping several hints of its own. The company recently introduced a “Great on Frame” category on Steam highlighting games expected to work well with the headset, while expanding its Frame compatibility verification program that began in late June. The headset has also received FCC certification, typically one of the final regulatory steps before a consumer hardware product reaches the market.

Valve’s Steamworks update from June still lists the Steam Frame as shipping this summer, the same window given for the Steam Machine. The Steam Frame is the last of Valve’s three planned hardware launches, following the Steam Machine and Steam Controller, and has arguably been the most anticipated of the three given how long the company has been working on a standalone VR headset.

What evidence in Valve’s Steamworks and Steam store categories suggests the Steam Frame launch is imminent?

Valve’s Steamworks update from June still lists the Steam Frame as shipping this summer, indicating Valve expects a near-term release. On the Steam store Valve added a “Great on Frame” category and expanded a Frame compatibility verification program, signaling games are being prepared and certified for the headset ahead of launch.

No price has been confirmed. An earlier report noted that Qualcomm raised prices for its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which the Steam Frame was planned to use alongside 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of storage, potentially complicating Valve’s original pricing plans.
