‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 Character Posters Tease Sun Setting On Netflix Series

We’re that much closer to “One Last Ride,” aka the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Outer Banks, as Netflix has unveiled character posters for the six main cast in the last installment.

First premiering in April 2020 at the height of quarantine and the onset of the COVID pandemic, the Netflix action adventure series provided a beachy escape from grim times. Noticeably absent from the group of sunset-tinged portraits is Rudy Pankow’s JJ Maybank, who tragically died at the end of Season 4.

Those shown in the posters — with the exception of Carlacia Grant’s Cleo — have all been on the show since day one, including Chase Stokes as John B Routledge, Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Madison Bailey as Kiara Carrera, Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward and Drew Starkey as Sarah’s brother Rafe Cameron.

JJ’s murderer and biological father Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), is also still at large following the group’s adventures and devastations in Morocco. Season 5 shot some scenes in Dubrovnik, Croatia, which seems to be the location of where the Pogues open Season 5, locked up in a prison following their tailing Groff to Lisbon, Portugal.

Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the her mercenaries, the Corsairs, are still after the Blackbeard’s Blue Crown as well. The crown is the prize of the latest treasure hunt the Pogues undertook since their first quest back in the spring of 2020. In the trailer for the show, Kiara can be seen in her car researching the headpiece with a big stack of books, and the implication is that it could be used to bring souls back from the dead.

Outer Banks Season 5 arrives on Netflix August 20.
