Aug. 11 (UPI) — Sony has announced a new Wolverine-themed PlayStation 5 console and DualSense controller that will be released on September 15.
The new items pay homage to Wolverine’s classic black and yellow X-Men suit. Claw and scratch marks are also visible.
Wolverine’s likeness appears at the top of the PlayStation 5 console. Comic book veteran and graphic artist Jock provided the artwork.
“I still draw all my artwork traditionally, so the opportunity to marry cutting-edge hardware with the energy and looseness of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting. I’m stunned by how well the console and accessories captured the raw energy of the drawing, bringing Wolverine to life in a completely unique way,” Jock said in a statement.
PlayStation will also be releasing a silver and black variant console and controller in reference to Wolverine’s signature claws. Players who already have a PlayStation 5 or a PlayStation 5 Pro console can purchase separate console covers in both colors.
The Wolverine battle yellow limited edition PlayStation 5 will retail for $649.99. The controllers retail for $84.99 with the console covers at $74.99. Fans can place pre-orders on Aug. 19.
The console and controller coincide with the release of PlayStation’s highly anticipated Wolverine title, from developer Insomniac Games.
TheWolverinegame is a bloody and mature action title for adults that takes players across the globe with levels based on the fictional Madripoor, Canada and Tokyo.
Actor Liam McIntyre portrays Wolverine/Logan in the game as he goes on a journey to discover the secrets of his dark past.
