Actor Prakash Raj recently reacted to the police action against protesting students, who marched towards the Jharkhand legislative assembly in Ranchi on Monday, August 10. As per news agency ANI, the JPSC-JSSC aspirants who joined the protests continued demonstrations even after police resorted to a lathi charge for the third time on Monday evening. Additionally, tear gas was also reportedly used to disperse students protesting outside the Jharkhand Assembly.

Following the series of incidents, Prakash Raj took to his X account to express his disappointment over the use of force on students. He reposted a video allegedly taken from the protest site on Monday, showing visuals of tear gas and lathi charge being used to disperse students. For the unversed, Prakash Raj had been vocal in supporting the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests in Delhi last month and even visited the protest site.

In the caption, the actor wrote, “Why .. Why .. Why” followed by three broken heart emojis. He continued, “This brutality will not work anymore.. it will only bring the arrogant power down.”

    About the Jharkhand student protests

The student protesters in Jharkhand have been staging an indefinite sit-in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 29. They have been demanding cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Combined Preliminary Test held on April 19 along with an independent probe by central agencies, including the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED), into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

On Monday, August 10, the protestors organised a massive ‘Vidhan Sabha Gherao’ marchto protest against alleged paper leaks and systemic irregularities. According to ANI, protestors marching towards the Jharkhand Assembly remained resistant after police used lathi charge for the third time on Monday evening to disperse protesters. The demonstrators said they would continue their protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations while demanding a CBI probe.

Authorities reportedly used tear gas shells, water cannons and lathi charges as protesters attempted to move towards the Assembly.

Previously, actor-lyricist Piyush Mishra also visited the JPSC-JSSC student protest site in Ranchi to extend his support to the aspirants. He even questioned the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/zee-entertainment-q1-results-net-profit-turns-positive-to/” title=”Zee Entertainment Q1 Results: Net profit turns positive to”>entertainment industry’s silence on the matter.
