Ali Novak, author of the hit young adult romance novel My Life with the Walter Boys, will discuss her book and its sequel, My Return to the Walter Boys, in a live PEOPLE chat on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Novak will answer your burning questions about the novel’s popular adaptation on Netflix, among other topics.
My Life with the Walter Boysfollows 15-year-old Jackie, who is forced to leave Manhattan after a tragic accident causes her to lose her parents and make a cross-country move to rural Colorado. Leaving behind her “privileged and proper” life in New York, Jackie is taken in by her mother’s best friend Katherine Walter, who’s raising 12 children of her own (changed to 10 kids in the Netflix adaptation). As Jackie struggles to adjust to her new life, she finds herself developing unexpected feelings for two of the older Walter boys, Alex and Cole.
The Netflix series recently debuted its third season starring Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry, on Aug. 6, and season 4 of the show is already in the works, set to premiere in 2027. Meanwhile, Novak’s sequel to the hit novel, My Return to the Walter Boys,was released in April 2025 and is available wherever books are sold.
