Varanasi makers drop a modern look of Mahesh Babu as Rudhra on his birthday

The makers of SS Rajamouli`s Varanasi have released a new look of Mahesh Babu from the film on the occasion of his birthday. The pictures show a modern look of the actor in the African jungle

On the occasion of Mahesh Babu’s birthday, his fans got a treat as the makers of his upcoming film Varanasi unveiled a new look of the actor from the film. The makers of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opusdropped two fresh pictures of actor’s looks from Varanasi, giving the first proper glimpse of his much-awaited character, Rudhra.
New look of Mahesh Babu unveiled on his birthday
Set against the stunning landscapes of Africa, Mahesh Babu looks appear larger-than-life. Varanasi, which also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is among the most anticipated Indian films lined up for 2027.
One of the images shows Rudhra as a mix of wit, vulnerability and fierceness, while he is seen relaxing on a bamboo raft. In another picture, Mahesh’s Rudhra gazes at the vast landscape of the jungle.
The two looks seem to have been shot during the film’s Africa schedule across Kilimanjaro and the Masai Mara. The pictures indicate that his character is driven by a purpose far greater than himself and a destiny he never asked for. The African wilderness takes centre stage in the new looks.
This comes after his visuals had earlier leaked online.
About Varanasi
So far, the makers have kept Varanasi’s plot details largely under wraps. Meanwhile, a reported synopsis has surfaced online. According to a Gulte report, Varanasi is set to hit the screens in 2027, when an asteroid named Shambhavi is reportedly on a collision course with Varanasi, threatening the city with a catastrophic impact.
The synopsis on Cinesite’s websitereads, “A Shiva devotee embarks on a perilous quest across time to uncover a lost cosmic artefact of immense power. As he pieces together ancient secrets hidden through centuries, he realises the truth behind his mission, the very force that set him on this path is a calculating mastermind with a vision of absolute global domination. Forever. Unveiled.”
Mahesh Babu is believed to play Rudhra, an archaeologist and explorer recruited for a high-stakes mission to recover an ancient cosmic artefact, while he is joined by Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Mandakini, a historian and skilled marksman, as they embark on a dangerous journey.
The makers are yet to officially confirm the reported synopsis or these plot details. Varanasi is slated to release in theatres on April 7, 2027.
