Highlights
- Digimonhas achieved its highest profit in franchise history, surpassing its 2000 peak.
- Bandai Namco credits the franchise’s success to the strong performance of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, among others.
- The Digimonfranchise is also preparing a new TV anime, marking its 30th Anniversary in 2027.
The Digimonfranchise has posted its highest profit level in its 27-year history, surpassing the peak it hit during the original Digimon Adventure boom in 2000. Bandai Namco Entertainment President Nao Udagawa revealed the milestone in an interview with Weekly Famitsu.
According to Udagawa, the record-breaking performance reflects the combined strength of the franchise rather than a single product. Sales from Digimon Story: Time Stranger, the Digimon Card Game, and other licensed products collectively pushed the IP to an all-time high. However, a specific revenue figure wasn’t disclosed.
Digimon Franchise is Betting on New AnimeÂ
Time Stranger, the role-playing game, became the fastest-selling entry in the Digimon Story series following its October2025 launch. The title surpassed 1M copies shipped and sold worldwide in about two months.
Bandai Namco’s latest financial materials also underscored Digimon’s growing importance within its digital business. Digimon Card Game, which has expanded internationally since its 2020 relaunch, is currently among the top ten card games, as per a July survey from TCGplayer.Â
While Bandai Namco didn’t reveal the revenue numbers, Data Intelo’s market reports revealed that in 2025, the Digimonperipheral sales market was valued at $3.8 billion USD. Asia Pacific and North America became two driving markets for the franchise, with APAC accounting for almost 43.6% of global revenues.
Bandai Namco is leaning on the momentum as the Digimon franchise heads towards its 30th anniversary in 2027. The company has a new TV anime set to premiere that year, following the Digimon Beatbreak TV series.
Toei Animation is also bringing Digimon: Our Best Adventure, a fan-voted compilation series drawn from the franchise’s first four anime that starts airing in Japan this October. Time Stranger also expanded to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in July, with Udagawa informing that a major expansion is planned for 2027. Whether the new initiatives sustain Digimon’s current growth will depend on how Time Stranger’s DLC and the new series perform once respective rollouts begin.
