Square Enix issued a new update for Final Fantasy 14 today, which includes improvements on Nintendo Switch 2.
We previously heard that there was a loading times issue with this version of the game. Square Enix says that it has improved things to reduce the time of screen transitions within duties.
Other improvements are included as well, including some that are Nintendo Switch 2-specific. As part of this, some touch screen issues have been fixed.
The full rundown is as follows:
Final Fantasy 14 update patch notes
■ Optimized processing to speed up data loading to reduce the time of screen transitions within duties. (Nintendo Switch 2 version only)
■ The following issues have been addressed:
– Upon completing the Allied Society Quest “Hero’s Day Off,” a message notifying that your reputation had advanced to “Allied” would not appear.
– In the Occult Crescent: North Horn, the quest “In the Shadow of the Tower” would display the quest completed icon above the NPC even if the objective had not been completed.
– In the following duties, if a player logged out while incapacitated and then logged back in more than 10 minutes later, they could return to the duty despite having been expelled.
– The Occult Crescent: South Horn – Forked Tower: Blood
– The Occult Crescent: North Horn – Forked Tower: Magic
– The Occult Crescent: North Horn – The Forked Tower: Magic (Extreme)
– The Forbidden Land, Eureka Hydatos – The Baldesion Arsenal
– In the Occult Crescent, when a player had multiple damage-nullifying buffs from the following phantom actions, receiving damage would not only consume the buff of the corresponding damage type, but other damage-nullifying buffs as well.

– In the Occult Crescent: North Horn critical encounter “Dark Artistry,” the visual effect of the enemy action “Dark Flare” appeared narrower than the actual attack.
– In the Occult Crescent: North Horn critical encounter “Accept No Imitators,” no sound effect was played when the visual indicator for the boss action “Spinebreaking Stampede” was displayed.
– In the Occult Crescent: North Horn FATE “Eye to Eye,” certain visual effects from the boss actions ”Cold Stare” and “Sinister Sight” were displayed for players who were not participating in the FATE.
– In the Occult Crescent: North Horn, stepping onto the circles to travel to specific locations could cause players to become stuck in the ground or midair and prevent movement.
– The animations/visual effects for the following phantom actions were not displayed properly in the Occult Crescent.
Occult Aero III / Occult Holy / Chaos Drive / Punishing Ray / Drain Touch / Step Forth
– Visual effects were not depicted properly at certain camera angles for the following weapons when they were drawn.
Phantom Spear Occultum / Phantom Cane Occultum / Phantom Index Occultum /
Phantom Codex Occultum / Phantom Revolver Occultum / Phantom Degen Occultum
– When Tradewinds Gaskins were equipped along with certain foot gear on the following races/genders, graphics around the waist were displayed incorrectly:
Midlander Male / Highlander Male / Elezen Male / Miqo’te Male / Au Ra Male / Viera Male
– When Vana’dielian Tights of Healing were equipped on the following races/genders, the graphics of the left leg were displayed incorrectly when an idle animation entered a specific pose:

– The keybind and log filter settings saved via Configuration Sharing were stored under “Miscellaneous Data” instead of “Character Configuration.”
– Touch screen input was not recognized as player input during duties, causing players using only touch screen controls to be treated as inactive and forcibly removed from duties after a certain period of time. (Nintendo Switch 2 version only)
– In the Gold Saucer GATE “Air Force One”, shots fired via touch screen controls were launched toward the previous reticle position rather than the location touched. (Nintendo Switch 2 version only)
– Duty Recorder replay data did not play back correctly when a chapter was selected while the replay was paused. (Nintendo Switch 2 version only)
