IF YOU’RE A fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—if you’ve stuck around all the way to this point—it’s fair to assume one thing: you probably want more. After The Infinity Saga—the first 22 movies in the franchise—came to a conclusion with Avengers: Endgame,the next era of Marvel storytelling took a slight delay after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Homein 2019 because of the whole COVID-19 thing. Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals,and a number of others followed after a lengthy break (just under two years) from big screen releases.
The years since have been something of a zigzag road for Marvel Studios, which has gone through various phases of both prolific and slowed releases. The current era of the MCU is referred to as “Phase 6,” and will conclude with the forthcoming crossover film Avengers: Doomsday.
We also know that Marvel Studios, and its fearless leader, producer Kevin Feige has long been extremely meticulous. There are the movies and shows we know about, that have been publicly announced, and then there are the movies and shows they’re working on,that will exist in the shadows and rumors only. One example: we all know the X-Men are coming to the MCU sooner or later.
Anyway, that’s enough speculation. Here’s the complete list of upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and TV shows—that we know of.

Avengers: Doomsday
December 18, 2026
Formerly known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,a film that has since been scrapped.In July 2024—and after a particularly surprising San Diego Comic-Con panel from Marvel Studios—this movie was rebranded as Avengers: Doomsday,set to be directed by a returning Joe and Anthony Russo, and will feature, drum roll please… Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Yep, we’re just as confused as you are.
We’ll see how that all plays out when the movie is released in December 2026. But it’s clear from the short teaser trailer we’ve gotten so far that the film will feature a number of different factions of Marvel heroes—including the “New Avengers” established in last year’s Thunderbolts,a team of existing Avengers that includes Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor,and some of the old Fox X-Men (including James Marsden’s Cyclops, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X)—teaming up to take down the not-so-good doctor. The Fantastic Four and the Wakandans will also be involved. Because how could they not be?
Anyway, though, this movie will of course be massive, and will almost certainly feature all sorts of multiverse-hopping shenanigans with countless heroes from the MCU. We’re eagerly waiting to see what else might be up!
Avengers: Secret Wars
December 17, 2027
The second part of Marvel’s next huge, two-part Avengersextravaganza is Avengers: Secret Wars,which is the name of two notable comic runs. One,from the ’80s, was written by former Marvel EIC Jim Shooter and was largely a genius ploy to sell toys. The other, released in 2015 and 2016 by writer Jonathan Hickman, is a multiversal epic that heavily features Fantastic Fourcharacters like Reed Richards and Doctor Doom.
This movie is now scheduled, as you can see, all the way out in December 2027. Will we even be alive in 2027? Is there anything we can predict about anything? Who—and I cannot reiterate this enough—the hell knows. But Joe and Anthony Russo will be returning to direct, and The Fantastic Four are confirmed to be appearing.
Ghost Rider
We know very, very, very little about what’s going on with Ghost Rider.But Ryan Gosling gets his wish and will finally get to play Ghost Rider, the heavy metal, motorcycle-riding, flaming-skull bad ass superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will be written by Jonathan Tropper and directed by Shawn Levy, bringing together the same team that Gosling just worked with on Star Wars: Starfighter.Fingers crossed!
Black Panther III
December 15, 2028
After Ryan Coogler’s massive success outside of the MCU with Sinners(a film that won him his first Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay), the director returns to his superhero franchise with Black Panther III.And while staple characters Shuri (Letitia Wright) and M’Baku (Winston Duke) will return, the real headliner is the fact that T’Challa Jr. (revealed at the end of Wakanda Forever) will be aged up into a new Black Panther, and is set to be played by David Jonsson. Jonsson is well known around movie and television circles as one of the industry’s brightest young stars, and anyone who’s watched Industryor last year’s The Long Walk knows just how good he can be. Between that new casting, Coogler’s return, and the fact that the director will be shooting the movie on film… there’s a lot to be excited about.
X-Men
We don’t have a ton of details for the MCU’s forthcoming X-Men movie (and it will certainly come after Secret Wars), but we know that Thunderbolts*director Jake Schreier will be directing. On top of that, we know that Schreier’s friends from Thunderbolts,including Beefcreator Lee Sung Jin and The Bearshowrunner Joanna Calo, will also be working on the screenplay again. There’s also the news that some casting for the film has begun to come out: Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost and Kit Connor will play Cyclops. Not bad! In Jake Schreier we trust at this point— considering Thunderbolts*was the best MCU movie in a couple of years, we’re buying in.
Blade
Is this even happening anymore? If it is, Mahershala Ali has recently revealed that he will no longer be involved. What a fumble!
Originally, Marvel’s big announcement at the end of San Diego Comic Con way back in 2019 was that—eventually—Blade, the vampire hunter, would be joining the MCU, and he’d be played by Ali, a two-time Oscar winner. A very, very big deal, and truly incredible casting.
And then the troubles began. Marvel previously hiredWatchmenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour to write the script, and Bassam Tariq to direct, but both eventually fell off. The next director on board was Yann Demange, who has also since fallen off. The script has gone through lots of turmoil already, which we won’t get into too much here, but the last we heard is that Logan‘s Michael Green (who was behind last year’s fantastic Blue Eye Samuraion Netflix) is working on it, and it was going to be an R-rated flick—which is vital. But there have been no announcements in a while. Can we get this movie made?
The cast has gone through some serious turmoil as well, even in addition to Ali. Some other names had been attached, but the only one we know was still recently involved is MaXXXinestar (and modern horror legend) Mia Goth—whose turns in Ti West’sXandPearl and Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Poolseemed to initially land her what is likely a villain role here.
Armor Wars
The MCU project centered on Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle) was announced to be switching from a Disney+ series to a feature film—but we still don’t know when it’s coming out (if ever).

VisionQuest

Paul Bettany will lead his own WandaVisionsequel series, titled Vision Quest.Based on how WandaVisionconcluded (and how Agatha All Alongcontinued the story), we can take a leap and assume that this series will at least somewhat center on White Vision out in the world trying to regain his memories and become the hero he once was (or, you know, go live in some robot peace somewhere. It’s much deserved). It’s been promised that VisionQuestwould complete the Wanda trilogy (although we have no idea if she’ll actually make an appearance here).
Daredevil: Born Againseason 3

Marvel made a lot of fans very happy when they announced at SDCC 2022 that the Daredevilhero and villain team of Charlie Cox (as Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) would be returning for Daredevil: Born Again,which turned out to be not quite based on the comic arc of the same name. They made those same fans even more excited when they announced that it would be 18 episodes long; it makes sense that Marvel is experimenting with format now a few years into the Disney+ era.
One problem, though—Marvel totally scrapped the first few episodes they produced,firing the writing and directing teams and starting over. Clearly, something wasn’t working. A new team is now in place, and season 1 (which came out in March 2025) is a mix of work from the new and old teams. The show eventually settled into being a soft reboot of the beloved Netflix-produced series, moving the action to a new place and introducing a new story, but also bringing back some old characters and dynamics (including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher). Season 2 continued that story, bringing Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones into the fold.
Now, season 3 should bring the whole Defenders team (including Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist) back into the mix.
