Season two is less than a month away
Taking a look at Netflix’s Top 10 lately, it’s clear there’s a little something for everyone. From true crime documentaries and romantic comedy dramas to WWE content, the streaming lineup has been serving up plenty of variety. Now, medical comedy drama fans have a new reason to hit play, as a fresh title has officially entered the rankings at an impressive number four. The show? Best Medicine.
Best Medicine is based on the popular British television series Doc Martin and follows brilliant but blunt Dr. Martin Best as he trades his prestigious hospital career in Boston for a private practice in the small fishing village of Port Wenn, Maine.

While treating the town’s unusual medical cases, Dr. Best finds himself solving health mysteries and navigating life among the locals, something that doesn’t exactly come naturally to him. On top of that, he’s forced to confront his past.
If you’re wondering where this show came from and how it suddenly landed on Netflix’s radar, you’re not alone. Best Medicine originally premiered on Fox in January. The series was renewed for a second season in March, with new episodes expected to arrive on September 22. Now that the first season has hit Netflix as of August 4, viewers have the perfect chance to binge the series before season two arrives.
And based on the reviews, it might be worth adding to your watch list.
“Best new show on tv in a long time,” one person shared on Rotten Tomatoes. Another viewer praised it, saying, “Hands down the BEST comedy to be released in many years!” A third added, “It’s not often something fresh, original, smart, and funny comes along. This show, quirky though it is, makes me laugh out loud. That’s not happened in a long time.”
Best Medicine is streaming now on Netflix.
