The multi disciplinary music and arts event takes place annually across the city in Berlin. This year the line up is one of the strongest yet.

Pop-Kultur remains one of the most inspired and exciting events in the European festival calendar – focussed on broadening perspectives on music, art and creative culture. It has become one of the most innovative and exciting in respect to its programming, often platforming musicians and artists well before they break the ‘big time’.

The festival has also always been focussed on bringing people together, be that through panel talks, cross community initiatives or otherwise. The purpose of Pop-Kultur has always been to uplift and focus people toward a greater, more collaborative creative future with innovation and connection at the core.

This year the festival has outdone itself in respect to its curation. That’s an honest take from our side as well, this time around the line up features a number of artists of which we are firm fans.

Key highlights for us include the likes of bar italia, Avalon Emerson & the Charm, Margaux Gazur, Disovery Zone and more.

We have spotlighted some key acts to catch beneath:

    Topics

The group from London have attracted a lot of attention over the past few years for their approach. Independent and raw, their sound remains unpolished and grungy in the best sense. Their live performances are few and far between so this is a rare chance to catch the group in Berlin.

    • Sophia Kennedy

An alt-pop <a href="https://comicvibe.com/star-struck-lea-thompson-ron-perlman-set-for-terrificon/” title=”Star Struck: Lea Thompson, Ron Perlman set for TerrifiCon”>star in the truest sense Sophia Kennedy has become a favourite amidst discerning circles for her clever songwriting and intriguing production sense. This is very much new school Pop music with influences which stem from far beyond the genre.

    • Discovery Zone

A Berlin based musician, who a few years back, released a phenomenal off piste Pop come Indie record which had great hooks and a unique 80’s influence. However, more recently that sound has evolved into atmospheric synth driven Ambient material which sits well on RVNG Intl. where the latest album was released. What side will we get?

    • Avalon Emerson & the Charm

An incredibly well known name in Berlin club culture, Avalon Emerson is well known as a producer and a DJ. However, in recent years the focus has been on leftfield, alternative sounds which are far more reminiscent of delicate Shoegaze moments.

    • Margaux Gazur

A French-Vietnamese musician who seriously understands ambience. She operates in a number of spheres writing music for films and installations alongside abstract soundtracks and electronic music. Her recent record on Smallville caught our ear for its precise depth and her performance will be mesmerising.
