The episode begins with Chimere helping Osha take off her mask, and Osha sees May kill Thor without a weapon. They bonded quickly, did anyone else notice? When we next see May and Thor, she’s using Pip to escape, and Thor tells her that killing her mother was an accident, but that he doesn’t regret his decision. Before he could explain further, she attacked him and ran away. Everyone heads to Brundock for the final battle.
Master Venestra must manipulate Senator Raincool by telling the story of the current situation in circles. If there’s another season, I’d love to see these two continue their battle of wits. When we return to Brundock, we finally get to see Chimere and Thor fight with sabers, which is absolutely everything I want in a lightsaber fight. The fight choreography here is some of the best I’ve ever seen on any Star Wars show.
Another great moment is seeing Osha and May fight themselves. For an actress playing twins, choreographing a fight like this must have taken a lot of effort. It’s nice to finally see Osha lose control and see what she can do. Their battle was interrupted by the arrival of a Jedi ship, including Master Venestra. May sets out to find Thor.
When Thor defeated Chimere, May intervened and made Thor admit his responsibility for his mother’s death. He also finally explained that Osha and Mei were not twins or sisters, but people created by their mother using the power of the earth. Osha listens from the shadows and makes her presence known. Thor tried to explain, but Osha choked him with the Force and told him to stop. When she crushes his windpipe, he tells her it’s okay. She kills him, and when she holds his lightsaber, it turns red. Osha’s vision is her own.
As Master Venestra steps off the ship, she senses her former student Zimir, whom she thought was dead. When she discovers Thor’s body, she uses the Force to learn the truth about what happened on Earth. When we next see Osha and May, they appear to have reconciled, with Osha agreeing to go to training with Chimere as long as he lets May go. He agrees and erases Mei’s memory so they can’t find her.
We see Osha and Chimere back on the island, staring out to sea, with Osha having a bad look on her face. It looks like she’s going to completely turn to the dark side because of Thor’s lies. Back on Coruscant, Master Venestra tells the Council that Thor is responsible for everything, and she confronts May, who doesn’t remember anything after the fire. She doesn’t remember Osha. It seems Venestra will use this to retrain May in the ways of the Jedi. It is revealed that Master Venestra’s master was Yoda.
While I enjoyed this episode more than last week, I still have questions. I’m not sure I want a second season of this show. It starts off promising but is rough in the middle and ends without Yoda – not sure if it’s worth the wait. I mean, it seems like they want to ruin the reputation of the Jedi. Overall, I give this season a 6/10.
