Before Console Heroes launched their first products last year, which were diorama toys of the SEGA characters, more specifically from the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive, we had a chat with the founder on our podcast to learn more about what’s to come. And although no specifics were mentioned, it was clear they wanted to carry on with the dioramas, and now it seems their latest products have somehow landed in the hands of the public before an official announcement from Console Heroes themselves.
These new toys are similar in design to the SEGA dioramas that came inside cartridges with characters and parts that allow you to create a level and display your characters as if they were straight from the SEGA Mega Drive game itself. It even came with a SEGA Mega Drive console set that was a console that opened up to reveal space for all of your figures from the smaller sets.
Well, Console Heroes are now working on PlayStation 1 dioramas featuring nostalgic IP such as Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal 2 and even MediEvil, which is one of the first times in many years a toy has been created for this classic.
Now, I’ll be honest, Console Heroes has certainly made this launch incredibly complicated because some people are actually seeing them on shelves in the USA, even though many retailers have them up for pre-order for a November 26th release date. This was similar to the SEGA toy launch here in the UK. One day, they just appeared, and it seems they can’t be purchased from Console Heroes themselves because… well, they don’t even have an official website, just an Instagram account that has yet to announce this PS1 set. See what I mean by confusing?

These are showing up on Target already, and other retailers such as MicroMania for around $19.99/€14.99 for the smaller disc dioramas, and the larger PS1 console set will be around $24.99 accoring to Target. They’ll eventually make their way to Amazon upon an official launch, but when that is, I honestly do not know! Some of the features are:
- Collectable PlayStation 1 console diorama that opens to reveal a multi-level display environment.
- Includes 4 mini figures: Axel (Twisted Metal 2), Gabe Logan (Syphon Filter), Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil), and Yagi (Cool Boarders).
- Detailed molded environment with layered platforms and printed PlayStation backdrop.
- Figures feature peggable bases for customizable display; mini-figures are non-poseable.
- Console replica folds closed for compact display; figures do not store inside.
- Premium bundle format featuring multiple iconic PlayStation characters in one set.

These will be mass-produced and able to purchase across the globe. One thing I do know is that Console Heroes has good connections in the toy supply industry, so no doubt you’ll see these in stores near the end of the year, as they’ll undoubtedly want this in people’s hands for Christmas, hence the rumoured November release date.
We’ll try our best to get our hands on these to review, like we did the SEGA versions. We have asked our contacts at Console Heroes for more information, so we’ll update this article with more information once we have it!
